The likes of Pompeo, Mattis and Bolton arranging to provide ‘security guarantees’ for North Korea, is kind of like arranging to give Count Dracula keys to safeguard the blood bank. This thing is going to go downhill fairly fast, methinks. What might actually work? Stop pushing the war games in North Korea’s face (a primary cause of every previous failed agreement with the north) PERMANENTLY, lift the sanctions, ask China and Russia to certify the North’s denuclearization and when completed, keep a promise that delivers North Korea a peace treaty. Of course that wouldn’t suit the USA’s high end weapons producers (or Trump Chief of Staff General John Kelly’s numerous retired peers sitting on military-industrial corporate boards), and for that very reason, it likely doesn’t suit Pence, Pompeo, Mattis and Bolton and it is this Wall Street bottom line is what stands in the way of a permanent peace:
