Steele - 1

Robert David Steele’s “The truth at any cost lowers all other costs” is a fundamentally sound idea. However his “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” is NOT a fundamentally sound idea. Furthermore, these preceding should be mutually exclusive concepts. Yet, Robert David Steele embraces both; concurrently claiming together with his ‘truth’ maxim, that he is ‘agnostic’ when it comes to associating with those persons whom Steele sees as advantageous to his agenda but otherwise Steele should be well aware promote known falsehoods. Case in point is Steele’s Public Intelligence blog hosting Robert Parry:

Robert Steele had, admirably, declared on 19 January 2016, 9/11 (and other notable ‘terror’ events) a false-flag. How or why it took Steele, a trained spook, 15 years to arrive at this conclusion in public forum is tangential to this short essay; the real question here is, why does Steele promote, more than one full year on his public declaration, the pervasively false journalism of Robert Parry, where Parry is on record denying the obvious: World Trade Center Building 7 was blown to bits by professional demolition on the afternoon of 11 September 2001? This is a case of ‘the enemy of my enemy is my enemy.’

“He [Parry] also denies that WTC-7, a 47-story skyscraper that came down at 5:20 PM, seven hours after the Twin Towers were destroyed.  It fell in approximately 6.5 seconds, which is about the speed of free fall, a classic indication of a collapse that was brought about by a controlled demolition.  Many experts have found the pattern of collapse supports that conclusion.  A very nice video that demonstrates this to be the case, “This is an Orange”, refutes his [Parry’s] allegation that it was because the building had a large atrium that it collapsed as fast as free fall.  That ignores the fact that the entire building was extremely robust in construction, having been erected over two massive electrical generators providing back-up electricity for lower Manhattan.  This building obviously came down as the result of a controlled demolition, which is why so many in the 9/11 truth community emphasize WTC-7″

If this preceding should be the most visible angst or tension in Steele’s embrace of Robert Parry’s journalism with its ‘no lie is too big for my readers to swallow’, the most insidious lie Steele takes on with his embrace of Parry, is the rank constitutional revisionism Parry promotes when attacking the religious right’s false constitutional narrative with (a Parry specialty) alternative false narrative

“So, today’s Tea Partiers, “libertarians” and the Republican Right are not so much descendants of the Framers as they are heirs to the Anti-Federalists who tried to strangle the U.S. Constitution in its cradle. And a principal motive for this fierce opposition was a desire to protect slavery” -Robert Parry

…noting the anti-Federalists (North & South, slave-owning & non-slave-owning) were actually opposed to investing the new federal government with those royal powers they had been in rebellion over:

Having received high marks as adjunct professor of American constitutional law (Summer semester 2008, Johannes Gutenberg University at Mainz), requiring a certain knowledge of history in the subject, I will refer to folklore as a metaphor; if anything, the rank and file (common citizenry) anti-Federalists from Georgia to Maine, were firmly determined King George III should not be replaced with a King George Washington. That’s the short fact of the USA’s first ten amendments coming into existence, a political legacy of Thomas Paine.

Can Robert Steele’s “the truth at any cost lowers all other costs” bear witness to truth by hosting Robert Parry, and by extension, Robert Parry’s own patently revisionist constitutional history and stand up? Or, Does Robert Steele’s ‘lip servicing’ a return to, and upholding of the American constitution, amount to a crowd pleasing political fellatio? Steele should be socially savvy enough to understand there would be many placing faith in his [Steele’s] judgement might go on and uncritically extend their faith to the wider, dishonest work of Robert Parry, example given (I could provide even more blatant example of Steele associating with a dishonest journalist but that can wait, for the moment.) Maybe Robert Steele has simply taken on too much to properly vet those false flag journalists he is presently keeping company with. In any case, Steele is in a mini reflection of Trump’s circumstance; working with quislings.

Meanwhile, for Robert Steele’s edification, I will provide example of just how screwed up the spooks world of ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ actually is; perhaps Steele is suffering espionage-centric myopia and needs the blinders removed. Whereas My Enemy is My Friend’s Favorite Fuck

NATO’s UPGRADED GLADIO is the subject of this article, where the western democracies enemy Islamic State is Turkey’s favorite fuck-buddy. Call it a play on the Middle East expression ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Only here it is ‘my enemy is my friend’s favorite fuck.’

This week, a result of a lawsuit filed personally by the president of Turkey (Edogan, image above), two courageous journalists were arrested and charged with treason, terrorism and  revealing state secrets. What had they done? Revealed Turkish intelligence had been caught by some over-zealous local gendarmes when running guns and ammunition to hard-line Islamist militia with close ties to al-Qaida:

Now, if that were not enough concerning NATO member Turkey’s efforts in ‘the war on terror’, we can back up a mere five weeks and understand Erdogan’s paranoia of free press; it was in October, 2015, two members of Turkey’s parliament revealed it was Erdogan’s intelligence services had arranged the 2013 Sarin gas attack that had killed over 1,300 Syrians:

Of course this had been blamed on Basher al-Assad by Hussein Obama:

And, of course, this past week has been all about satellite images and Russian warplane video of Islamic State tankers exporting oil via… you might have guessed it, Turkey. Well, I guess the warplane images indicate ISIS ‘suddenly not shipping quite as much oil.’ The USA hadn’t even noticed these targets prior to the Russians hitting them, I suppose our religious right generals at the Pentagon would call that ‘sexual abstinence’

But this next guy would seem to think he’s been fucked in the ass over oil by Russia and that must be why Turkey ambushed a Russian bomber, his name is Hakan Fidan and he’s Erdogans’s intelligence chief:

Now, let’s consider what Vladimir Putin had to say in relation to Turkey and by implication its intelligence services chief Hakan Fidan:

“We assume that the top political leadership of Turkey might not know anything about this [illegal oil trade]. Hard to believe, but it is theoretically possible. But if the top political leadership [in Turkey] doesn’t know anything about this, let them find out. I can state that there may be some elements of corruption, secret dealing, they should sort it out” -Vladimir Putin

I doubt Putin was in a good humor when he stated the preceding but his use of irony under the circumstance indicates he’s not in any mood to be fucked with; and furthermore indicates Turkey is going to be fucked but good.

Now, more or less ‘sticking’ with oil, lets look at some sound assumptions; our several intelligence agencies answer to the executive in the western democratic model. It follows, they report to the those same democracies bosses. So, what has Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND or German CIA) boss Gerhard Schindler been telling Angela Merkel? That Assad gassed his own people? Sorry but the BND reputation for intelligence in the region doesn’t allow for pigs growing wings:

The report quotes a US intelligence agent as saying: “No Western intelligence service has as good sources in Syria as the BND does.”

Now, when it comes to Islamic State doing a billion dollar oil business with Turkey, do you suppose the Germans, Angela Merkel particularly, could claim she ‘didn’t know’? After all, according to a United States Defense Intelligence Agency report, the whole idea of “the western powers” fostering the rise of Islamic State was to bugger Assad. Who’re “the western powers” other than Germany? France and its multinational Total Oil Company make a fine next step into the bordello where your enemy is your friend’s favorite fuck:

So, how does that all fit into Turkey is a one billion dollar partner in Islamic State oil exports and no one says anything? Let’s ask the Brits:

Meanwhile (this update comes precisely one day since I’d penned the preceding), Erdogan’s government henchmen have arrested and charged the police officials who’d initiated the investigation into illegal weapons transfers to jihadists in Syria:

Cihangiroğlu were arrested on charges of “obtaining confidential information for purposes of political or military espionage; disclosing confidential information pertaining to state security for espionage purposes; attempting to destroy or prevent the government of the Republic of Turkey from functioning; founding or leading an armed terrorist organization.”

Brig. Gen. Celepoğlu was arrested on charges of “attempting to destroy or prevent the government of the Republic of Turkey from functioning; founding or leading an armed terrorist organization.”

Two journalists from the Cumhuriyet daily, Editor-in-Chief Can Dündar and the Ankara representative Erdem Gül were arrested last week on similar charges after publishing footage that showed the arms [trucks] were carrying guns, contrary to earlier government claims that they were transporting humanitarian aid:

Turkey Provides Military Equipment to ISIS

  • An ISIS commander told The Washington Post on August 12, 2014: “Most of the fighters who joined us in the beginning of the war came via Turkey, and so did our equipment and supplies.”
  • Kemal Kiliadaroglu, head of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), produced a statement from the Adana Office of the Prosecutor on October 14, 2014 maintaining that Turkey supplied weapons to terror groups. He also produced interview transcripts from truck drivers who delivered weapons to the groups. According to Kiliadaroglu, the Turkish government claims the trucks were for humanitarian aid to the Turkmen, but the Turkmen said no humanitarian aid was delivered.
  • According to CHP Vice President Bulent Tezcan, three trucks were stopped in Adana for inspection on January 19, 2014. The trucks were loaded with weapons in Esenboga Airport in Ankara. The drivers drove the trucks to the border, where a MIT agent was supposed to take over and drive the trucks to Syria to deliver materials to ISIS and groups in Syria. This happened many times. When the trucks were stopped, MIT agents tried to keep the inspectors from looking inside the crates. The inspectors found rockets, arms, and ammunitions.
  • Cumhuriyet reports that Fuat Avni, a preeminent Twitter user who reported on the December 17th corruption probe, that audio tapes confirm that Turkey provided financial and military aid to terrorist groups associated with Al Qaeda on October 12, 2014. On the tapes, Erdogan pressured the Turkish Armed Forces to go to war with Syria. Erdogan demanded that Hakan Fidan, the head of Turkey’s National Intelligence Agency (MIT), come up with a justification for attacking Syria.
  • Hakan Fidan told Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Yasar Guler, a senior defense official, and Feridun Sinirlioglu, a senior foreign affairs official: “If need be, I’ll send 4 men into Syria. I’ll formulate a reason to go to war by shooting 8 rockets into Turkey; I’ll have them attack the Tomb of Suleiman Shah.”
  • Documents surfaced on September 19th, 2014 showing that the Saudi Emir Bender Bin Sultan financed the transportation of arms to ISIS through Turkey. A flight leaving Germany dropped off arms in the Etimesgut airport in Turkey, which was then split into three containers, two of which were given to ISIS and one to Gaza.

Turkey Provided Transport and Logistical Assistance to ISIS Fighters

  • According to Radikal on June 13, 2014, Interior Minister Muammar Guler signed a directive: “According to our regional gains, we will help al-Nusra militants against the branch of PKK terrorist organization, the PYD, within our borders…Hatay is a strategic location for the mujahideen crossing from within our borders to Syria. Logistical support for Islamist groups will be increased, and their training, hospital care, and safe passage will mostly take place in Hatay…MIT and the Religious Affairs Directorate will coordinate the placement of fighters in public accommodations.”
  • The Daily Mail reported on August 25, 2014 that many foreign militants joined ISIS in Syria and Iraq after traveling through Turkey, but Turkey did not try to stop them. This article describes how foreign militants, especially from the UK, go to Syria and Iraq through the Turkish border. They call the border the “Gateway to Jihad.” Turkish army soldiers either turn a blind eye and let them pass, or the jihadists pay the border guards as little as $10 to facilitate their crossing.
  • Britain’s Sky News obtained documents showing that the Turkish government has stamped passports of foreign militants seeking to cross the Turkey border into Syria to join ISIS.
  • The BBC interviewed villagers, who claim that buses travel at night, carrying jihadists to fight Kurdish forces in Syria and Iraq, not the Syrian Armed Forces.
  • A senior Egyptian official indicated on October 9, 2014 that Turkish intelligence is passing satellite imagery and other data to ISIS.

Turkey Provided Training to ISIS Fighters

  • CNN Turk reported on July 29, 2014 that in the heart of Istanbul, places like Duzce and Adapazari, have become gathering spots for terrorists. There are religious orders where ISIS militants are trained. Some of these training videos are posted on the Turkish ISIS propaganda website takvahaber.net. According to CNN Turk, Turkish security forces could have stopped these developments if they had wanted to.
  • Turks who joined an affiliate of ISIS were recorded at a public gathering in Istanbul, which took place on July 28, 2014.
  • A video shows an ISIS affiliate holding a prayer/gathering in Omerli, a district of Istanbul. In response to the video, CHP Vice President, MP Tanrikulu submitted parliamentary questions to the Minister of the Interior, Efkan Ala, asking questions such as, “Is it true that a camp or camps have been allocated to an affiliate of ISIS in Istanbul? What is this affiliate? Who is it made up of? Is the rumor true that the same area allocated for the camp is also used for military exercises?”
  • Kemal Kiliçdaroglu warned the AKP government not to provide money and training to terror groups on October 14, 2014. He said, “It isn’t right for armed groups to be trained on Turkish soil. You bring foreign fighters to Turkey, put money in their pockets, guns in their hands, and you ask them to kill Muslims in Syria. We told them to stop helping ISIS. Ahmet Davutoglu asked us to show proof. Everyone knows that they’re helping ISIS.” (See HERE and HERE.)
  • According to Jordanian intelligence, Turkey trained ISIS militants for special operations.

Turkey Offers Medical Care to ISIS Fighters

  • An ISIS commander told the Washington Post on August 12, 2014, “We used to have some fighters — even high-level members of the Islamic State — getting treated in Turkish hospitals.”
  • Taraf reported on October 12, 2014 that Dengir Mir Mehmet Firat, a founder of the AKP, said that Turkey supported terrorist groups and still supports them and treats them in hospitals. “In order to weaken the developments in Rojova (Syrian Kurdistan), the government gave concessions and arms to extreme religious groups…the government was helping the wounded. The Minister of Health said something such as, it’s a human obligation to care for the ISIS wounded.”
  • According to Taraf, Ahmet El H, one of the top commanders at ISIS and Al Baghdadi’s right hand man, was treated at a hospital in Sanliurfa, Turkey, along with other ISIS militants. The Turkish state paid for their treatment. According to Taraf’s sources, ISIS militants are being treated in hospitals all across southeastern Turkey. More and more militants have been coming in to be treated since the start of airstrikes in August. To be more specific, eight ISIS militants were transported through the Sanliurfa border crossing; these are their names: “Mustafa A., Yusuf El R., Mustafa H., Halil El M., Muhammet El H., Ahmet El S., Hasan H., [and] Salim El D.”

Turkey Supports ISIS Financially Through Purchase of Oil

  • On September 13, 2014, The New York Times reported on the Obama administration’s efforts to pressure Turkey to crack down on ISIS extensive sales network for oil. James Phillips, a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation, argues that Turkey has not fully cracked down on ISIS’s sales network because it benefits from a lower price for oil, and that there might even be Turks and government officials who benefit from the trade.
  • Fehim Tastekin wrote in Radikal on September 13, 2014 about illegal pipelines transporting oil from Syria to nearby border towns in Turkey. The oil is sold for as little as 1.25 liras per liter. Tastekin indicated that many of these illegal pipelines were dismantled after operating for 3 years, once his article was published.
  • According to Diken and OdaTV, David Cohen, a Justice Department official, says that there are Turkish individuals acting as middlemen to help sell ISIS’s oil through Turkey.
  • On October 14, 2014, a German Parliamentarian from the Green Party accused Turkey of allowing the transportation of arms to ISIS over its territory, as well as the sale of oil.

Turkey Assists ISIS Recruitment

  • Kemal Kiliadaroglu claimed on October 14, 2014 that ISIS offices in Istanbul and Gaziantep are used to recruit fighters. On October 10, 2014, the mufti of Konya said that 100 people from Konya joined ISIS 4 days ago. (See HERE and HERE.)
  • OdaTV reports that Takva Haber serves as a propaganda outlet for ISIS to recruit Turkish-speaking individuals in Turkey and Germany. The address where this propaganda website is registered corresponds to the address of a school called Irfan Koleji, which was established by Ilim Yayma Vakfi, a foundation that was created by Erdogan and Davutoglu, among others. It is thus claimed that the propaganda site is operated from the school of the foundation started by AKP members.
  • Minister of Sports, Suat Kilic, an AKP member, visited Salafi jihadists who are ISIS supporters in Germany. The group is known for reaching out to supporters via free Quran distributions and raising funds to sponsor suicide attacks in Syria and Iraq by raising money.
  • OdaTV released a video allegedly showing ISIS militants riding a bus in Istanbul.

Turkish Forces Are Fighting Alongside ISIS

  • On October 7, 2014, IBDA-C, a militant Islamic organization in Turkey, pledged support to ISIS. A Turkish friend who is a commander in ISIS suggests that Turkey is “involved in all of this” and that “10,000 ISIS members will come to Turkey.” A Huda-Par member at the meeting claims that officials criticize ISIS but in fact sympathize with the group (Huda-Par, the “Free Cause Party”, is a Kurdish Sunni fundamentalist political party). BBP member claims that National Action Party (MHP) officials are close to embracing ISIS. In the meeting, it is asserted that ISIS militants come to Turkey frequently to rest, as though they are taking a break from military service. They claim that Turkey will experience an Islamic revolution, and Turks should be ready for jihad. (See HERE and HERE.)
  • Seymour Hersh maintains in the London Review of Books that ISIS conducted sarin attacks in Syria, and that Turkey was informed. “For months there had been acute concern among senior military leaders and the intelligence community about the role in the war of Syria’s neighbors, especially Turkey. Prime Minister Recep Erdogan was known to be supporting the al-Nusra Front, a jihadist faction among the rebel opposition, as well as other Islamist rebel groups. ‘We knew there were some in the Turkish government,’ a former senior US intelligence official, who has access to current intelligence, told me, ‘who believed they could get Assad’s nuts in a vice by dabbling with a sarin attack inside Syria – and forcing Obama to make good on his red line threat.”
  • On September 20, 2014, Demir Celik, a Member of Parliament with the people’s democratic party (HDP) claimed that Turkish Special Forces fight with ISIS.

Turkey Helped ISIS in Battle for Kobani

  • Anwar Moslem, Mayor of Kobani, said on September 19, 2014: “Based on the intelligence we got two days before the breakout of the current war, trains full of forces and ammunition, which were passing by north of Kobane, had an-hour-and-ten-to-twenty-minute-long stops in these villages: Salib Qaran, Gire Sor, Moshrefat Ezzo. There are evidences, witnesses, and videos about this. Why is ISIS strong only in Kobane’s east? Why is it not strong either in its south or west? Since these trains stopped in villages located in the east of Kobane, we guess they had brought ammunition and additional force for the ISIS.” In the second article on September 30, 2014, a CHP delegation visited Kobani, where locals claimed that everything from the clothes ISIS militants wear to their guns comes from Turkey.   • Released by Nuhaber, a video shows Turkish military convoys carrying tanks and ammunition moving freely under ISIS flags in the Cerablus region and Karkamis border crossing (September 25, 2014). There are writings in Turkish on the trucks.
  • Salih Muslim, PYD head, claims that 120 militants crossed into Syria from Turkey between October 20th and 24th, 2014.
  • According to an op-ed written by a YPG commander in The New York Times on October 29, 2014, Turkey allows ISIS militants and their equipment to pass freely over the border.
  • Diken reported, “ISIS fighters crossed the border from Turkey into Syria, over the Turkish train tracks that delineate the border, in full view of Turkish soldiers. They were met there by PYD fighters and stopped.”
  • A Kurdish commander in Kobani claims that ISIS militants have Turkish entry stamps on their passports.
  • Kurds trying to join the battle in Kobani are turned away by Turkish police at the Turkey-Syrian border.
  • OdaTV released a photograph of a Turkish soldier befriending ISIS militants.

This article, reprinted with the consent of the author, has been banned from a wide variety of ‘progressive’ news outlets. It is, in my opinion, one of the most important pieces of information people should have absorbed. Dr Bramhall’s reporting on this subject is independently consistent with my own research on ‘color revolutions’ (my appended observations follow Dr Bramhall’s article.)

The CIA and Nonviolent Resistance

One important aspect of the “diversity of tactics” debate (i.e. the debate whether to be exclusively nonviolent) in the Occupy movement relates to mounting evidence of the role CIA and Pentagon-funded foundations and think tanks play in funding and promoting nonviolent resistance training.

The two major US foundations promoting nonviolence, both overseas and domestically, are the Albert Einstein Institution (AEI) and the International Center for Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC). Both receive major corporate and/or government funding. The latter comes mainly through CIA “pass-through” foundations. While the ICNC is funded mainly by the private fortune of hedge fund multimillionaire (junk bond king Michael Milken’s second in command) Peter Ackerman, the AEI has received funding from the Rand Corporation and the Department of Defense, as well as various CIA-linked foundations, such as the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the International Republican Institute (IRI), the US Institute of Peace and the Ford Foundation (read here on The Ford Foundation and the CIA), which all have a long history of collaborating with the Pentagon, the State Department and the CIA in destabilizing governments unfriendly to US interests.

This is a strategy Frances Stonor Saunders outlines in her pivotal Cultural Cold War: The CIA and the World of Arts and Letters. According to Sanders, right wing corporate-backed foundations and the CIA have been funding the non-communist left since the late sixties, in the hope of drowning out and marginalizing the voice of more militant leftists.

Gene Sharp, the Fervent Anticommunist

Much of this debate focuses around the American godfather of nonviolent resistance, Gene Sharp, the founder and director of the Albert Einstein Institution. Sharp’s handbooks on nonviolent protest were widely disseminated in the Eastern Europe color revolutions, in the Arab spring revolutions and in the Occupy movement in the US (see Nonviolence in the Service of Imperialism). Unfortunately Sharp has become a decoy in this debate, deflecting attention from the larger question of whether the US government is actively financing and promoting the work of the AEI, the ICIC and other groups that promote nonviolent resistance, to the exclusion of other militant tactics. The question is extremely important, in my view, because it possibly explains the rigid and dogmatic attitude in the US progressive movement regarding nonviolence.

Is Military-Intelligence Funding Compatible with Progressive Politics?

The institutional nonviolence clique has cleverly refocused the debate on whether Sharp, who is eighty-three, is a CIA agent and whether he actively participated in US-funded destabilization efforts in Tunisia, Syria, Egypt, Libya, Iran and elsewhere that resulted in so-called “Arab Spring” revolutions. The obvious answer to both questions is no. The more important question is why the alternative media and “official” progressive movement embrace Sharp unconditionally as a fellow progressive without a careful look at his past or his ideological beliefs. Sharp has never made any secret of his fervent anticommunist views. He also makes no secret of the funding he has received from the Defense Department; the Rand Corporation; CIA-linked foundations, such as NED, the IRI and the US Institute of Peace; and George Soros’s Open Society Institute. All this information is readily available from the AEI website.

Thierry Meyssan’s 2005 Expose

The current brouhaha over Gene Sharp was first triggered by an article, The Albert Einstein Institution: Nonviolence According to the CIA, Thierry Meyssan published on Voltaire Net in October 2005. Meyssan, a French intellectual and political activist, first gained international prominence in 2002 by publishing a French best seller entitled L’effroyable imposteur (English title: The Big Lie). The book claimed that the 9-11 attacks were directed by right-wingers in the U.S. government and the military industrial complex, who were seeking justification for military action in Afghanistan and Iraq. Meyssan’s 2005 article on the Albert Einstein Institutes enumerates a long list of collaborations between Sharp and opposition groups receiving covert US support in campaigns to bring down Asian and Eastern European governments unfriendly to US interests.

Iran and Venezuela’s Denunciation of Sharp

The article was widely reposted on leftist and libertarian websites. In 2008, it resulted in a formal denunciation of Sharp by the Iranian government and Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, both targets of AEI destabilization activities. In June 2008, Stephen Zunes, chair of the Academic Advisory Committee of the Peter Ackerman’s International Center for Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC) issued a rebuttal, Sharp Attack Unwarranted, in Foreign Policy in Focus. The latter is an on-line magazine of the Institute for Policy Studies, where Zunes serves as Middle East Editor. The article was simultaneously reprinted in the Huffington Post.

Zunes subsequently persuaded Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Code Pink and other high profile progressives to help launch an on-line petition defending Sharp’s progressive credentials. However, as numerous critics point out, he never addressed Meyssan’s most important concerns: the military/intelligence backgrounds of many of the Albert Einstein Institution’s (AEI’s) directors and advisory board members; their documented collaboration, together with Sharp, with opposition groups responsible for the “color” revolutions in Eastern Europe; and their work with Venezuelan opposition groups in an effort to topple president Hugo Chavez.

AEI ties to Department of State and Military-Intelligence Complex

Australian researcher Michael Barker, Canadian activist Stephen Gowans and CIA watchers wrote detailed critiques defending Meyssan’s 2005 expose. Barker’s rebuttal is entitled Sharp Reflection Warranted. Barker’s main argument is that the problem of elite manipulation of ostensibly progressive groups isn’t at all new. He also points readers to excellent links regarding collaboration between the CIA and the Ford Foundation, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and others.

Gowans argues that Zunes, a paid adviser to the International Center for Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC), is hardly a neutral or objective party, given his involvement with Peter Ackerman and the ICNC. Ackerman, hardly the progressive peace activist, is a Wall Street investment banker, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and head of Freedom House. The latter, according to Noam Chomsky (in Manufacturing Consent), is “interlocked” with the CIA and a “virtual propaganda arm of the (US) government and international right wing.” According to Louis Proyect, Ackerman is also on the advisory board of the ultraconservative Cato Institute’s Project on Social Security Choice. Not surprisingly, this group strongly advocates for privatizing Social Security.

A Close Look At Sharp’s Past

There is no question that Thierry Meyssan’s 2005 article on Gene Sharp’s extensive links to the US military-intelligence complex is one of the most important exposes of the 21st century. Its only weaknesses is Meyssan’s failure to cite many of his references. What follows is the best publicly verifiable chronology of Sharp’s life I could come up with (most comes from Meyssan’s 2005 article with sources added):

1953 – conscientious objector during Korean War, imprisoned for nine months for refusing to report for alternative duty. Imprisoned for refusing to fight in Korean War (People and The Progressive).

1973 – publishes The Politics of Nonviolent Action (1973) with an introduction by Thomas C. Shelling. Shelling was a well known economist and professor of foreign affairs, national security, nuclear strategy, and arms control. After working with US ambassador Averel Harriman in Paris in 1948 to implement the Marshall Plan, Shelling had a fifty year affiliation with the Rand Corporation (US military think tank) and is widely credited as the theoretician behind military escalation in Vietnam.

1983 – founds the Albert Einstein Institution (AEI) in Boston, with the assistance of Major General Edward B Atkeson, who was on the first AEI advisory board. The AEI website identifies Atkeson as Senior Fellow at the Institute of Land Warfare Association of the US Army. According to the CIA website, during the 1980s Atkeson was also a National Intelligence Officer for General Purpose Forces.

1985 – publishes a book entitled Making Europe Unconquerable: the Potential of Civilian-base Deterrence and Defense. The second edition includes a preface by George Kennan, historian and State Department senior diplomat whose writings influenced Truman in the creation of the Truman Doctrine. Kennan is viewed as the father of the US foreign policy of “containment” (by force) of Soviet expansion.

1986, 1988 and 1989 – travels to Israel/Palestine to bolster support for the Palestinian Center for the History of Non-Violence, founded in 1983 by one of Sharp’s disciple. It’s a matter of public record that Sharp met with Colonel Reuvan Gal, who directed the Israel Defense Force (IDF) Psychological Action Division. Meyssan claims the two conspired to create a split in the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) by creating a dissident “nonviolent” group. Gal and Sharp claim the purpose of their meetings were to devise ways to dissuade IDF commanders from using tanks and excessive military force against Palestinian settlers (see The Jeruselem Fund, Mubarak Awad,  and Nonviolence).

1987 – receives funding from the US Institute of Peace to host seminars instructing US allies on defense based on civil disobedience. By law, the US Institute of Peace integrates elements of US intelligence.

1989 – assists Colonel Robert Helvey in training anticommunist Burmese opposition groups concerned about the growing strength of the Burmese Communist Party. The AEI website refers to Helvey as a retired US military officer and ex-military attaché in Burma. He was actually a thirty year veteran of the Defense Intelligence Agency with extensive experience in overseeing clandestine and subversive operations in Southeast Asia (see Guerrillas Without Guns Col Helvey Weaponizing Nonviolence and Peace Magazine Archive). Following his retirement from the Defense Intelligence Agency, Helvey has been board member and president of the Albert Einstein Institution.

1990 – with his AEI team (according to AEI website), assists Lithuanian opposition leaders in organizing popular resistance against the Red Army. According to the website, the AEI also did trainings with anticommunist opposition groups in Tibet, Estonia, and Belarus.

1998 – travels, with Helvey, to Eastern Europe to train Otpor, a group of Serbian youth opposed to Slobodan Milosevic and Europe’s last communist government. Milosevic was immensely popular with Serbian people for standing up to NATO and for his generous social policies. The trainings were funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID). (See 2000 New York Times interview with NED officer Paul B. McCarthy).

2003 – assists, with AEI staff, in the launch of the “Rose Revolution” in Georgia (see The Secrets of the Georgian Coup).

2004 – Helvey and other AEI members meet with the Ukrainian resistance in Kiev (see Mowat’s Coup d’État in Disguise).

2003-2004 – travels, with Helvey and other AEI team members to Venezuela to meet with wealthy Venezuelan opposition leaders, following the failed 2002 CIA-sponsored coup against Chavez. The AEI advises them in organizing a recall referendum against Chavez. They also train the leaders of Súmate during the August 2004 demonstrations and assist in the formulation of “Operation Guarimba”, a series of often-violent street blockades that result in several deaths. According to an analysis published by Strategic Forecasting (Stratfor), Venezuelan student leaders traveled to Belgrade in 2005 to meet with representatives of AEI-trained OTPOR/CANVAS, before traveling to Boston to consult directly with Sharp himself.

Fast Forward to the “Arab Spring”

In the Arab Spring revolutions of 2011, Sharp and the Albert Einstein Institution (AEI) seem to have handed the baton to his disciple Peter Ackerman. It was Ackerman who conducted nonviolence trainings in Cairo and Tunisia in 2009-2010 (see Foreign Policy Journal and New York Times).

As others have documented elsewhere, the 2011 uprisings in the Middle East and North Africa were neither spontaneous nor indigenous. Many of the individuals and groups who helped organize them received training (in the US) sponsored by the State Department and CIA-linked democracy manipulating foundations (see Tony Cartalucci’s Soros Celebrates the Fall of Tunisia). The New York Times lends further credibility to these claims in their April 2011 U.S. Groups Helped Nurture Arab Uprisings.

Other method of disinformation is noted in regards to alternative media’s Robert Parry has misreported events in Ukraine (myself not being the only one to notice), effectively pointing away from actions reflecting the role of ‘covert operations’ intelligence. Now, it can’t hurt (truth) to demonstrate the consequence of Gene Sharp suborning Ghandi’s model to utilitarian ‘Realpolitic’ sans morality. What Robert Parry (and his associate Ray McGovern) inexcusably fail to report in relation to Ukraine is, not only did Department of State/CIA aligned NGO’s organize and train the Maidan protesters based on Gene Sharp’s nonviolence model; the CIA operations sector subsequently organized the deaths of the same when they trained and imported the snipers who murdered them. A conservative Polish Member of European Parliament, Janusz Korwin-Mikke, states in an interview the Maidan snipers were trained in Poland in a joint operation with USA intelligence services:

Question: “[you are] a supporter of the thesis it was a CIA operation?”

Answer: “Maidan was also our operation. The snipers were trained in Poland”

A reasonable English language summary of the interview by PRAVDA:

An earlier leaked phone call between the European Union’s Cathrine Ashton and the Estonian foreign minister, indicate it was people aligned with the new USA supported Ukrainian administration were behind the snipers who killed both protestors and police during confrontation in Kiev.

Robert Parry points solely to out of control ultra-nationalists behind the snipers. A better explanation (backing up both the Polish MEP and leaked conversation) is found in rogue CIA officer Phillip Agee’s expose: ‘Terrorism and Civil Society

Furthermore, Robert Parry has misreported the facts on MH 17, detracting from intelligence operations in effort shifting responsibility, as well has pushed blatant American constitutional history revisions. With Ray McGovern’s former military intelligence and CIA background in close association with Robert Parry’s reporting, it is more than fair to question to what extent the American non-violence movement has been penetrated for purpose of information operation manipulations away from discovering the actual facts of the USA’s geopolitical dirty work.

The CIA And Nonviolent Resistance

The outstanding questions are, how this came about, and especially the extent to which Robert Parry is knowingly complicit; or that is to ask, are Parry’s claimed ‘sources’ manipulating him, or is he taking prepared scripts? Although I cannot rule out the possibility Parry is in denial and consequently ripe for being unwittingly manipulated, this seems unlikely. I am strongly of the opinion he is knowingly pushing out scripted material.

In espionage there are three basic means (and several possible combinations thereof) to penetrate and/or use a hostile organization or movement to one’s advantage:

1)  Turning an employee or activist/journalist through some means such as intimidation, blackmail, sex, bribery or appeal to a psychological weakness such as working on someone’s conscience or ideology and convince them to become your organization’s asset (agent/traitor)

2)  Placing your own officer within the organization or dissident movement as an employee or activist (spy)

3) Using psychology and disinformation to convince a movement or organization’s staff to work to your advantage and/or commit acts against its own interests (false flag/sale)

My take is, Robert Parry’s work within the so-called ‘alternative media’ and ‘dissident’ movements profile as a probable category 1) with Ray McGovern playing supportive role of 2) in combination with 3)

Robert Parry had crossed one of the most evil and powerful men on the planet, George H.W. Bush, with his reporting on the 1980 October Surprise. You typically don’t pull something like that off and live to tell. My hypothesis is, Robert Parry’s is a case where the George H.W. Bush criminal cabal (integrated to the CIA’s clandestine services) had managed to turn him, with blackmail and/or threats, into a CIA asset.

One purpose Robert Parry serves, in common with players Daniel Ellsberg and Julian Assange, is to draw attention away from the central core of the corruption and its minions behind empire; that is the several cells of an exclusive club within the western intelligence agencies:

Their purpose is pointing people away from this hyper-right-wing Christian religious club’s coup at the Pentagon and related intelligence agency cells responsible for a metastasized GLADIO false-flag terror apparatus spread via ‘democracy’ throughout the globe. Former Pentagon liaison to the CIA, Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty, had labeled this deep state cult ‘The Secret Team’ and described it as a “new religion.” Investigative reporter Jeff Sharlet has documented the related Doug Coe cult extensively. Seymour Hersh and more have touched on it. It has both Catholic & Protestant chapters that overlap with Opus Dei and Assemblies of God (and other sects.) This endeavor had begun in the 1930s with Hitler sympathetic-religious businessmen, bankers & armaments industry personalities (overlapping with spy agencies) organized into cells based on intelligence security model. Their immediate post WW II rescue of the  3rd Reich intelligence apparatus, subsequently integrated to the several western democracies intelligence agencies, is the prima facie cause behind, and evolved to the present, covert rule over our nations and lives.

The goal of an elite, weaponized (Nazi inspired) Christian hierarchy usurping western democratic institutions (an international endeavor based in powerful corporate board interests integrated to our most powerful law enforcement, intelligence agency and military personalities) is nearly within reach for what amounts to a self-annointed extreme Christian religious cult-international criminal syndicate. That goal is rule by corporations guided by a global Christian-cult ‘chosen’ elite.

On the political and intelligence sides, initial key players were Allen and John (Foster) Dulles:

A spy versus spy episode

So, Robert Parry writes another ‘I’m trying hard to pull Obama’s chestnuts out of the fire & everything is the fault of neo-cons’ tripe article. In his article, Parry makes this dubious claim relating to the downing of MH-17:

“Soon after the shoot-down, I began hearing indirectly from U.S. intelligence analysts that their investigation was actually going in a different direction, that there was no evidence that the Russians had supplied such sophisticated weapons, and that suspicions were focusing on extremist elements of the Ukrainian government. I’m further told that President Obama was apprised of this intelligence analysis”

Robert Parry has, over time, suggested (based on his ‘sources’) everything from it was ‘drunk Ukrainian soldiers‘ to ‘rogue nationalists‘ used a Buk surface to air missile to down MH-17. Now, Parry claims he hears ‘indirectly’ from analysts with innuendo it was out of control radical-right Ukrainian nationalists shot down MH-17 with a Buk missile, an alternative, face-saving emergency exit engineered for Team Obama who is responsible for Joe Biden and John Kerry’s rabid anti-Russia rhetoric and actions in relation to Ukraine; not to mention separate Joe Biden and John Brennan visits coinciding with undermining early cease-fires in the conflict. Noting if Obama want the rhetoric translating to upcoming hostility dialed back, that is exactly what would happen. The rhetoric has not been dialed back, NATO is promoting war in Ukraine and every intelligence agency in the world knows it was a Ukrainian combat jet downed MH-17 in a false flag operation .. not to mention this (yours truly) former intelligence professional (freelancing in the present.)

Judging from his articles, Parry next book should be titled “How I re-twisted America’s twisted narrative’

Refuting other points in the new Parry spiel, Obama had previously backed down from bombing Syria because of a ground-swell of opposition at home threatened ‘business as usual’, not because he was anxious to be rescued by Putin. And Parry neglects to mention Obama is on the ‘remove Assad’ track again, now in concert with NATO’s Turkey (despite twisted denials to the contrary) where it will be Turkey expected to do much of the heavy lifting; after little more than a pause for breath and retooling of the same imperial strategy in which Obama has never demonstrated himself a truly reluctant player. Obama had hired a neo-liberal-neo-con team (Rice-Power/Brennan-Hagel would be examples) and has never hesitated over supporting policy propping up American imperialism.

Parry is like a rear guard for ‘hope’ that never in fact existed; a ‘legend of hope’ that was little more than a packaging ploy to distract from the realities Parry never delves into; the numerous clandestine dirty wars the USA is pursuing around the world under Obama, particularly in Africa:

If Parry were intending to go to the criminal core of American imperialism, rather than focus alternative media readers’ attention on familiar and comfortable targets, detracting from what’s actually going on, he’d delve into the real danger zone:

If Robert Parry’s mission were other than following intelligence agency disinformation diktat, he’d foreclose on the Buk surface to air missile used to down MH-17 line of professional propaganda; as well lift the ever shrinking fig-leaf on Obama’s full complicity in America’s criminal acts .. a fig leaf so small in reality, it defies the Black ‘package’ stereotype:

Robert Parry’s Journalism, Part Two

With a triumphant ‘cock-a-doodle-doo!’ in his recent “Re Shootdown Of Flight MH-17—–German Intelligence Concludes Missile Was Ukrainian, Not Russian” Robert Parry plays lick-spittle to intelligence agency spittoon, taking the bait of a deliberately engineered information operation (disinformation ploy) hook, line & sinker. Alternatively, Parry took a prepared script from his intelligence agency handler and ran with it. In either scenario, the unwitting or the complicit, Robert Parry is what is known in the business of spies as an ‘asset.’

First, let’s have a look at the ‘German Intelligence’ behind Robert Parry’s sudden YEAH! (with no doubt a fist-pump)

Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND) or Federal Intelligence Service (Germany) reports directly to Angela Merkel. This German counterpart to the CIA had been born out of the USA’s rescue of Nazi intelligence at the end of World War Two. Initially organized by the OSS and subsequently CIA as the ‘Gehlen Organization’ under Hitler’s veteran Soviet spymaster (Nazi war criminal) Reinhard Gehlen, the BND came into existence when the Gehlen Organization, staffed with Nazi Party & SS veterans, as well as more than 100 former Gestapo officers, was transferred by the USA to the Federal Republic of Germany (then so-called ‘West Germany’) to be under the authority of Chancellor Konrad Adenauer. And so it was Hitler’s top intelligence people became Germany’s post-war CIA. One can only imagine Reinhard Gehlen’s smirk when he’d stated his organization employed a lower percentage of former SS & Gestapo than most ministries in Adenauer’s Federal Republic of Germany government.

Nazi’s don’t shed their spots, folks. Simple social psychology determines an agency staffed with Gestapo that is historically, closely wedded to Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (and especially the CDU’s ‘sister’ party, the Christian Social Union) will have kept a certain proclivity or sympathies intact. It’s like any exclusive club at the top, you are hired based on the people controlling the interview process (Gestapo) and promoted to the top because of your willingness to ‘play the game’, insuring a particular mindset will perpetrate itself (similar to inter-generational violence.) This will certainly be  the case of the Bundesnachrichtendienst (BND) in relation to Angela Merkel’s political support structures in the Bundestag (German Parliament) and its numerous Nazi founders. To see Merkel’s minions (and by implication BND) fingerprints supporting the CIA initiated putsch installing a neo-nazi regime in Ukraine, one need look no farther than Merkel’s CDU aligned Adenauer Foundation:

“According to press reports, the German government would like to have boxing champion Vitali Klitschko run for president and bring him to power in the Ukraine. It would like to enhance the popularity of the opposition’s politician by staging, for example, joint public appearances with the German foreign minister. For this purpose, a meeting is also planned for Klitschko with Chancellor Merkel at the next EU summit in mid-December. The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is, in fact, not only massively supporting Klitschko and his UDAR party. According to a CDU politician, the UDAR Party was founded in 2010 on the direct orders of the CDU foundation. Reports on the foundation’s activities for the development of Klitschko’s party give an indication of how Germans are influencing the Ukraine’s domestic affairs via UDAR. Berlin’s use of Poland in its policy toward the Ukraine is also increasing. Berlin and Warsaw are cooperating with the Ukrainian ultra right-wing Svoboda (“Liberty”) party, which stands in the tradition of Nazi collaborators, who massacred 100,000 Christian and Jewish Poles during WW II”

Now, back to the gist of Robert Parry’s cock-a-doodle-doo in relation to the BND ‘intelligence finding’ reported to parliament, and how Parry’s reporting serves the purpose of an information operation (disinformation campaign.)

The USA had been stupid enough (John Kerry, particularly) to claim Russia was behind the shoot-down of Flight MH-17. This media hype calculated to stir the ill-informed American masses into a Russophobia frenzy, put Germany’s Angela Merkel between a rock and a hard place. Merkel, despite her Nazi derived support structures, has to balance the reality Germany has a solid Russia aligned core in its left political wing, Germany’s business world has significant investments in Russia, and not least, Germany’s populace is not entirely, or even for the most part, so ill informed as to come off as stupid (as rank and file Americans.) Mix this into the pie of Angela Merkel’s CDU & CSU party cadres and intelligence personalities, with strong Nazi tendencies, are little more than USA policy sycophants and there has to be a ‘middle way’ discovered to both; please ‘big brother’ (USA) and avoid appearing to both Russia and domestic press  to be as solidly insane as the Obama administration in relation to Ukraine (despite the fact they are.)

What is certain is, it was not a Ukrainian ‘rebel’ controlled Buk (surface to air) missile brought down Flight MH-17, there are simply too many professionals have examined the evidence and found it to be more than unconvincing, rather the so-called ‘evidence’ comes off as disingenuous. We know the ‘rebels’ had a captured Buk. We know both Kiev and the rebels had stated the Buk launcher was inoperable. The rebels had invited outside observers to examine the Buk in their possession, abandoned by Kiev’s forces, to determine the Buk could not have been used to shoot down MH-17 (an offer declined by the western democracies.) Angela Merkel’s intelligence people (in consultation with the CIA no doubt) have to come up with a Solomon solution to this dilemma, and they do so by offering to cut the disinformation by half. The solution? Blame the rebels, but exonerate Russia. This is accomplished by presenting ‘evidence’ (that was not made public) to the German parliamentary committee overseeing foreign affairs in a closed meeting and then inform Der Spiegel. This is how the disinformation game is played in mainstream media folks.

Now, in relation to alternative media, with a carefully engineered false line of information published on behalf of the intelligence agencies, CIA asset Robert Parry has his chance to cock-a-doodle-doo to the heavens, crowing IT WASN’T THE RUSSIANS! (we already knew that) delivering a BND engineered escape route to the Obama Administration’s CIA despite the more reliable facts point to Kiev as the actual perpetrators of the MH-17 shoot-down NOT with a missile but with a COMBAT JET. The BND’s ‘Sorry, it wasn’t the Russians put up a surface to air missile, it was the rebels’ twisted by Parry into a ‘out of control Ukrainian nationalists by far more likely than rebels used a Buk’ falsehood gets coverage in alternative media. That will have to do as a fallback position for DCI John Brennan’s people wanting ambiguity to be sustained. Except that we know it wasn’t Parry’s accused ‘rogue nationalists’ or the BND’s accused ‘rebels’, it was Kiev’s interior ministry, and it wasn’t a Buk surface to air missile, it was a military jet shot down MH 17. By leaving open the door to a rogue nationalist or rebel shoot down with a surface to air missile, rather than foreclosing on the Buk surface to air missile reporting on what has been nothing more than a ruse, helps kill the chances there will be a serious exam in media of the facts convicting Kiev (quite likely with assist from CIA or ‘other’ agencies covert ops) use of a military jet. This is Robert Parry’s professional disinformation engineering method; substituting false narrative with alternative false narrative, and it’s not the first time.

How is it Robert Parry can claim reliable sources to feed supporting disinformation into his story lines? Look no farther than his bosom buddy, ‘disgruntled & retired’ CIA analyst Ray McGovern. A ‘mr insider’ as a close associate will make anything Parry claims in relation to ‘reliable’ inside sources look credible. If indeed Parry had sources spilling information the Obama administration did not want in the public purview, they’d be all over Parry like flies on stink and McGovern and related ‘other’ sources would be sitting in a cell next to John Kiriakou.

Meanwhile, the steadily growing trail of verifiable facts back up the Russian investigation of events:

If Robert Parry were peddling honest materials, he’d have long since foreclosed on any surface to air missile scenario; where in fact all his reporting serves is to provide escape mechanism for the perpetrators of the murders of 298 innocent international air travelers in a false-flag intelligence agency caper intended to frame Russia for a heinous crime-

Robert Parry and the Relativity of Truth
(Poison Fruit)

I’m not a fan of Robert Parry. This is not a disclaimer, rather it is a healthy aversion to disinformation that comes of both training and experience. What put me on to Robert Parry was an article at Consortium News on the history of the American ‘framers’ of our constitution, reproduced elsewhere (notably at ‘truth-out’), which I took some time to dissect and rebut. Looking back at the article and with only a few strokes of the keyboard, I notice Parry fancies himself an American constitutional scholar.

In one article Parry writes:

“In other words, the Right’s modern interpretation of the Founding Principles was not shared by the key Framers of the Constitution. Instead, the Right’s position on the Constitution apes the opposition to the Constitution by the Anti-Federalists, who warned that the new federal structure would subordinate the states to the central government and endanger slavery in the South.

“Despite that real history, today’s Right has largely succeeded in distorting the Founding Narrative to convince millions of lightly educated Americans that – by joining with the Tea Party – they are defending the Constitution as the Framers devised it when, in reality, they are channeling the views of those who fiercely opposed the Constitution”

Parry is hammering on disingenuous theme of the American federalists versus anti-federalists, essentially overlooking the dynamic between the two which had led to a COMPROMISE between the factions. Parry altogether omits what that compromise had been meant to accomplish, the ratification of our federal constitution with added checks on central power by avenue of an agreed upon ‘Bill of Rights’ to be subsequently and separately submitted for ratification subsequent to our constitution’s adoption by the several states. Parry writes as though these two philosophies were mutually exclusive phenomena but in fact they’d been fused into one document by separate but closely related process.

I write in my rebuttal of Parry’s presumed authority on the issue:

“I somehow doubt the anti-federalist 4th amendment concerning privacy had anything to do with propping up slavery, a given example of motivation in the anti-federalists’ actual intentions. Or the prohibition of a bill of attainder. Or the right to petition for redress. Or the right to confront your accuser. To name but a few provisions of the first through eighth amendments”

I’d been adjunct professor of American constitutional law at one of Europe’s most prestigious universities, Johannes Guttenberg University, and at the university’s law school at that (Summer semester 2008.) As well, I received high marks as instructor. That doesn’t happen without a firm historical understanding of our founding document’s underpinnings. And outside the religious right, I’d never before seen such rank historical revisionism in relation to our constitution as that put forward by Robert Parry. Beyond irony, Parry’s patent disinformation regarding our founding document is aimed at the very religious right whose disinformation he attacks (with his own disinformation.)

But this subsequent article is not as much about Parry’s disseminating patent lies concerning the origins and intent of the USA’s founding charter, as much as the preceding influencing myself having a bit more close look on his reporting concerning Ukraine. The constitutional issue is the material that had placed Robert Parry’s work in my sights.

In this essay, we will briefly look at two of Robert Parry’s recent works on Ukraine; “Ukraine’s ‘Dr Strangelove’ Reality” & “What Obama Can Do To Save Ukraine”, and distill further instance where he misleads his many readers.

In the mentioned ‘Dr Strangelove’ article by Parry, he puts forward a seemingly reasonable assessment of the situation in Kiev in relation to the neo-nazi element but nonetheless falls short:

“Though clearly a minority, Ukraine’s neo-Nazis remain a potent force that is well-organized, well-motivated and prone to extreme violence, whether throwing firebombs at police in the Maidan or at ethnic Russians trapped in a building in Odessa.

“As vengeance now seeks vengeance across Ukraine, this Nazi imperative will be difficult to hold down, much as Dr. Strangelove struggled to stop his arm from making a “Heil Hitler” salute”

The problem with this closing assessment is suggesting this “minority” element will be difficult to control (clearly true), without overtly stating the neo-nazi elements are without question purposely empowered by the regime in Kiev (and by clear implication, the USA.) I am saying the neo-nazis have been deliberately unleashed and Parry misses this (or deliberately glosses it over.) Ok, so this is a strong statement on my part. But if you take time to look deeply into Svoboda with its five ministries in Kiev (Parry counts four, perhaps he doesn’t count the deputy Prime Minister), it is clear this is NOT a neo-nazi ‘minority’ playing in the regime, it is according to a honest research a neo-nazi empowered coalition:

“One of the “Big Three” political parties behind the protests is the ultra-nationalist Svoboda, whose leader, Oleh Tyahnybok, has called for the liberation of his country from the “Muscovite-Jewish mafia.” After the 2010 conviction of the Nazi death camp guard John Demjanjuk for his supporting role in the death of nearly 30,000 people at the Sobibor camp, Tyahnybok rushed to Germany to declare him a hero who was “fighting for truth.” In the Ukrainian parliament, where Svoboda holds an unprecedented 37 seats, Tyahnybok’s deputy Yuriy Mykhalchyshyn is fond of quoting Joseph Goebbels – he has even founded a think tank originally called “the Joseph Goebbels Political Research Center.” According to Per Anders Rudling, a leading academic expert on European neo-fascism, the self-described “socialist nationalist” Mykhalchyshyn is the main link between Svoboda’s official wing and neo-Nazi militias like Right Sector”

I have a larger problem with the second mentioned article by Parry; “What Obama Can Do To Save Ukraine” and its suggestions that mislead the ordinary reader. In this ‘Ukraine light’ analysis, Parry quotes an ‘unnamed diplomat’ as though the diplomat’s words were gospel:

“I was told by one senior international diplomat who was on the scene that after the Feb. 22 putsch, Western officials scrambled to help the shaken parliament cobble together a new government to avoid having a bunch of unsavory right-wing thugs become the de facto rulers of Kiev”

But in fact that is exactly what we have; a bunch of unsavory right wing thugs HAVE become the de facto rulers in Kiev. In an otherwise seeming thoughtful dissecting of the New York Times biased coverage, Parry slips in an unattributed quote that softens his attack on false narrative. The reader without training in psychological ploy can take this preceding quote delivered by Parry to mean somehow the ‘Western officials’ managed to circumvent a de facto neo-nazi rule when in fact they had not.

Parry follows his preceding with:

“that means that the legitimacy of the acting government in Kiev is open to debate, not a flat-fact, as the Times would have you believe”

MISLEADING CONCLUSION. There should be no “open to debate” because it has been clearly established the coup d’état regime in Kiev is patently neo-nazi empowered and the real “flat-fact” is the Kiev regime must therefore be illegitimate, without equivocation. What Parry has done here, when attacking the New York Times false narrative, is to feed the reader alternative false narrative. This is precisely what Parry had done when attacking the constitutional narrative of the religious-right; noted at the beginning of this essay.

Following on this section of the Parry article, he allows a very reasonable assessment of Putin but then goes off into some high philosophical moral argument as if Obama could find in his ‘higher-self’ the courage of a JFK. I cannot help but wonder how it is Robert Parry could give a fair assessment of Putin and then blow it with proposing Obama has the wherewithal to discover in himself character traits he has never once demonstrated after six years in office. This is pure Obama fantasy fed to a public that has been fed Obama fantasy from the get go.

And now the clincher, Parry’s concluding paragraph:

“The question now regarding Ukraine and the possibility of a new Cold War is whether Obama can pick up Kennedy’s torch of peaceful understanding – and see the world through the eyes of the ethnic Russians in Donetsk as well as the pro-European youth in Kiev – recognizing the legitimate concerns and the understandable fears of both”

In fact “the pro-European youth in Kiev”, do not play in the equation, at all, in the present circumstance, in fact no one does other than now regime integrated neo-nazis:

“An Anarchist group called AntiFascist Union Ukraine attempted to join the Euromaidan demonstrations but found it difficult to avoid threats of violence and imprecations from the gangs of neo-Nazis roving the square. “They called the Anarchists things like Jews, blacks, Communists,” one of its members said. “There weren’t even any Communists, that was just an insult”” (read it at salon.com)

What Robert Parry does with his journalism is string people along with ‘hope’ that has no foundation in reality. He softens the geo-political facts in relation to the criminal acts of the USA and deflects attention from the most critical points. The facts are, Obama will do nothing to effectively control the Siamese twin that is the CIA-Department of State and the horrors it is unleashing in Ukraine. The factual reality is, neo-nazi rule in Kiev, thinly disguised, will be utilized to deliberately provoke Putin endlessly, until the entire caper implodes/explodes in one way or another. To call it any other way is simply dishonest.

Why isn’t the ‘Christian al Qaida’ embedded at the Pentagon (not to mention at CIA, Department of State, et al) focused on in the work of Parry? It’s not only highly relevant, it’s not as though every element of information pointing to this severe danger is buried at sea, any good investigator can turn up the ample facts. As well, I’d been asked about Parry’s past investigative journalism (Iran Contra & the 1980 ‘October Surprise’) apparently not squaring with his support for the official version of 9/11… my reply:

“I’d simply note ‘truth’ cannot be entirely suppressed in every instance, in which case it must be ‘managed.’ Perhaps Parry came to the conclusion he did not wish to be ‘webbed’ (Gary Webb shot himself in the head TWICE, superman could do that…) Insofar as the official version of 9/11, Building 7 doesn’t fit the narrative. One need not have answers as to what actually happened to grasp there can be no honest embrace of the official version. What I’ve noticed about Parry and his bosom buddy [Ray] McGovern is, they consistently ‘soften’ hard facts and avoid taking the reader into the more dangerous back alleys where you’re more likely to find the real dirt”

Parry had poo-pooed when supporting the incredible government fantasies fed the public on the collapse of Building 7:

“After the fire and devastation spread next door to Building Seven, Bush’s team also detonated explosives there to bring down that smaller tower”

Ignoring independent professional investigators and established structural science, a by far more far-fetched scenario than the conspiracy theorists put forward, is the government scenario Parry supports; Building 7 is the only major modern steel reinforced, concrete pillar supported structure in the world to collapse from a mediocre fire, essentially claiming Building 7 died of fright:

Parry observes in his Obama article:

“Not only would Obama have to come down off the U.S. “high horse” and admit that his own administration has been guilty of spinning the facts – waging “information warfare” – but he’d have to recognize that Putin’s cooperation is essential to bringing this increasingly bloody crisis under control. Obama would also have to admit that Putin was not the cause of the Ukraine mess”

To become a trustworthy source of information, Robert Parry would have to do something remarkably similar; admit his own patent disinformation. A good beginning would be retracting his several articles on the federalist vs anti-federalist founders’ original intent in relation to our constitution and move on to endorsing Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth

The comment was taken down by the site before the day was far gone, so there is no indication of open to a wider understanding, rather continuing deceptive narrative (at the least.) Returning to Parry’s attack on the anti-federalist founders, there is no more insidious example of psychological ploy to undermine American civil liberties than to subliminally associate the founding principles underpinning our historic freedoms with slavery; by a research narrowly focused on the bigotry of the founders’ era and in the same moment ignoring the far greater sentiment of noble intent. Robert Parry does exactly that.

Washington Post launders (based on the historical record) what is almost certainly a CIA propaganda project to discredit legitimate alternative news outlets.

Eric Zuesse writing for the Russian site Strategic Culture posts an article that should make the Russians’ faces turn red; while fully aware it was Turkish intelligence (MIT) facilitated delivery of the sarin precursors chemicals which originated in Turkey and provided the rockets used by jihadi militants to murder 1,400 Syrians at Ghouta in August 2013, Zuesse ‘pens’ blame on Hillary Clinton via the CIA’s Libyan arms pipeline to Syria and cites Seymour Hersh as a source for his article’s assertion. Zuesse had already known (personal correspondence) the sarin did not originate in Libya but was provided by a Turkish chemicals company. The question the Russians should be asking themselves is, why frame the established international criminal Hillary Clinton, whose known crimes are many, with superfluous accusation that can’t hold up? What’s the point? The result is Strategic Culture damaged as a credible information outlet and in the meanwhile a case made Strategic Culture has been subverted to serving NATO & Turkey’s purpose; where it can be accurately stated attention has been diverted from the actual perpetrators of a NATO linked war crime.

Kick-ass Cookies publishes the official CIA history of the JFK assassination cover-up (back to the old ‘blame Cuba’ bs) as though it were gospel truth. I left the comment ‘why not just take your material from a David Ignatius novel.’ The CIA method is to publish revisionist history in classified format for ‘inside’ consumption; then ‘quietly’ declassify the same – thus appearing to take responsibility while in actuality pumping disinformation out to alleviate questions in the minds of their own agency personnel in endeavor that ultimately is intended to cover the criminal tracks of the worst of the agency’s legacy.

Author’s note: This article rejects the ‘incorporation’ legal doctrine that holds the first ten amendments were originally limited to persons in the federal jurisdiction. The reason is, this doctrine is patent bs which ignores the ‘supremacy clause’ of the USA constitution’s article six. To believe in the ‘incorporation’ doctrine is to hold a viewpoint constitution does not mean what it says. No less a personage than the great Justice Brennan believed the doctrine was patently false. The likely origin of the doctrine was with ‘federalist’ jurists who never accepted the the outcome of our constitutional convention and the deal crafted where a ‘bill of rights’ was required to be presented for ratification to get ‘anti-federalist’ support for our constitution’s adoption and making it out of the convention-

There is an urban legend circulated by faux historians on the progressive left, including Consortium News & journalist Robert Parry, promoting a revisionist history undermining our core civil liberties with a smear attacking the religious right’s historical revisionism with its own historical revisionism. This urban legend claims anti-federalist philosophy is rooted in setting out to protect slavery by weakening the provisions for an American central government. The argument on the left is as distorted as the Tea Party revisionism it attacks. Anyone approaching our foundational law should recall Oscar Wilde’s maxim “Truth is seldom pure and never simple” .. and such is the case with our nation’s founding law at the time of its creation.

The noted revisionism of the left holds, in short, that American anti-federalist sentiment at the time of the United States founding law’s enactment was primarily pro-slavery motivated. This patent bullshit distorts the anti-federalists every bit as much as the religious right distorts the constitution per se. In some of these variations of faux history coming from the left, the 2nd Amendment (right of the people to bear arms) is construed to be, or conflated with states rights in an ante-bellum, pro-southern slavery context. To this end, I will point out the 2nd amendment had/has little to do with states rights and propping up slavery. The word “state” in the 2nd Amendment “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state” is used (as it was meant to be used) in a singular, greater sense of ‘nation’ as the term ‘state’ is commonly known and used in international relations to this day. The 2nd Amendment’s “a free state”  in the collective sense of the greater nation contrasts to the plural states (or plural sense of states) in the context of individual American states as is specific in the 6th & the 10th amendments; with some behaviors enforced on all states, such as the 6th Amendment’s “In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed…”  (a plural sense of any state, effectively all states are to be bound by this) and also limited powers reserved to the states, per a clearly logical placement and context in the 10th Amendment after the constitutions ‘enumerated’ and ‘unenumerated’ rights had been secured to all citizens in the 9th Amendment’s “The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people”, the laws of individual states notwithstanding. The 10th Amendment language “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people” in fact reinforces our constitution’s Article Six ‘supremacy clause’ language “This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding” and puts the lie to anyone who would hold our ‘Bill of Rights’ was intended to undermine our constitution per se (also putting the lie anyone holding the so-called ‘Bill of Rights’ did not originally apply to states outside federal jurisdiction, i.e. the so-called ‘incorporation’ doctrine or people who think the language in Article Six does not mean what it plainly says.)

The reason the post Civil War 14th Amendment was necessary, had been to insure every southern state would be required to apply equal protection of the laws to Blacks as citizens, or those Blacks who were previously exempted by their status as slaves. In its original intent, the 14th Amendment was meant to extend the Bill of Rights protections to a targeted class (Blacks.)

Because of confusion of ‘state’ as a nation with ‘state’ as a state in these United States, in the American English dialect, ‘nation’ had come to replace ‘state’ in a sense of federal or national. However this was not yet the case at the time of our founding law being written; and the founding context of the language of the 2nd Amendment is a singular ‘people’ and refers to a ‘state’ in the sense of the United States as a nation, people of all the states inclusive. Attempts to conflate the greater ‘state’ in the 2nd Amendment with the individual ‘states’ comprising our nation is patently dishonest.

That gun violence has not been intelligently addressed in the USA is because this issue has never been honestly addressed. A ‘militia of the people’ as it exists in law and fact because of the 2nd Amendment, could be somewhat regulated in the philosophy of ‘balances’ by defining (from history) under what circumstance the people may ‘keep’ and ‘bear’ their arms. We’re not there yet.

None of the 1st through 8th amendments protection of the rights of individual citizens had much of anything to do with Blacks of the founding era, as they were not enfranchised citizens as a class, and the facts are at odds with left’s popular myth (urban legend) that somehow the anti-federalists got their way with undermining a federalist desire of an all powerful central government in the constitution on account of slavery. In the end, what the anti-federalists got were checks meant to result in balances, also known as the Bill of Rights.

I somehow doubt the anti-federalist 4th amendment concerning privacy in one’s papers had anything to do with propping up slavery, a given example of motivation in the anti-federalists’ actual intentions. Or other rights, for instance prohibition of a bill of attainder. Or the right to confront your accuser. To name but a few provisions of the first through eighth amendments authored by the anti-federalists.

If our “Bill of Rights” had been insisted upon by anti-federalists, and it most certainly was, the entire world, it would be implied by this specious and twisted revisionism coming from the left, is indebted to slaveholders for the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights inspired by the American Bill of Rights and certain of its provisions. Parry’s argument is beyond irony, it is patent nonsense. The fact is, slaveholders were a minority of the Americans with anti-federalist sentiment, and a minority in the geographic south as well, and this is where the left’s ‘equating anti-federalists with slavery’ crotch slams into the bicycle bar:

Anti-federalism was by no means an exclusive southern phenomena related to a minority of slave owners but was a general angst of the new republic’s citizenry from Georgia to New Hampshire. This angst primarily (and majority ratified) concerns historic abuses of power by central governments traced in the American tradition to the Magna Charta particularly and the European powers’ abuses generally. The right of the ‘people’ (all inclusive) to bear arms was deemed necessary as a check of last resort on a central government and was intended to be just that, a check, and has nothing to do with states rights and little to do with individual states’ militias per se. However some slave owning, southern anti-federalists might have wished a different outcome, the 2nd Amendment is NOT about slavery outside of those minority ante-bellum slave owners who would misconstrue it as such, and please note anti-federalist authored ‘Bill of Rights” specifies core civil liberties of citizens under assault by today’s federal (central) government with XKeyScore. This is clear.

The anti-federalist amendments were passed (ratified) by northern states with populations opposed to slavery, not only a minority of southern slave owners among the southerners per se, a truly small minority opposed to federalism for personal pecuniary interests. The greater majority of the people, north and south, were of anti-federalist sentiment for reasons having little to with slavery and greatly to do with historic abuses of the larger citizenry by central governments.

Insofar as the insights held by our anti-federalist founders as enumerated in the Bill of Rights, Edward Snowden’s revelations are evidence prima facie of why strong central governments were mistrusted across the spectrum by the American people at the time of our founding. The founders were not stupid but well educated in history and forward looking for the most part. The anti-federalists were largely about looking forward to a Snowden circumstance (having to do with protecting us from out of control central government), the Bill of Rights was not about protecting slave owners.

In fact the anti-federalist founders across the board, north and south, were so certain their convictions would be upheld by the people, they put their money where their mouth is so to speak, and allowed the constitution out of convention while settling for a separate ratification of the first ten amendments, subsequently vindicated in result across the spectrum of American society, with adoption by the larger American people of our Bill of Rights. In fact, the prescience of our nation’s founding generation points directly to today’s central government having set out to undermine where they can, and flat out cancel, when possible, the checks our anti-federalist founders meant to secure us from the tyranny of a police state.

A veteran journalist catching and spreading this historical revisionism virus, undermining those clauses of our constitution checking abuses of power by central government, suggests to me (dis)information operations and questions whether Parry actually serves journalism or an altogether different ‘agency.’ Reading a Robert Parry article at Consortium News can be as disgusting as reading the patent lies of the neo-liberal New York Times.
