Agent Assange

Certain alternative media stars either fail to realize or selectively black out the fact Julian Assange was a critical gear in the intelligence agency (primarily CIA & MOSSAD) information operations responsible for the so-called ‘Arab Spring’, leading to not only revolution and counter-revolution in Egypt but also the overthrow of Gaddafi and the Syrian ‘civil war.’

How do Glen Greenwald, Caitlin Johnstone, Elizabeth Vos, Chris Hedges, Vanessa Beeley and Raul Ilargi Meijer (among others), when defending their perception of Assange as a hero, drive their square peg into the round hole of Wikileaks supported the intelligence agency geopolitical engineering called the Arab Spring?

More than the preceding, with the first major university engineering study in, four years in the making and released in late summer 2019, demonstrating World Trade Center Building 7 did not fall on 9/11 according to the official narrative, where is Assange on the matter?

“The principal conclusion of our study is that fire did not cause the collapse of WTC 7 on 9/11, contrary to the conclusions of NIST [National Institute of Standards and Technology] and private engineering firms that studied the collapse. The secondary conclusion of our study is that the collapse of WTC 7 was a global failure involving the near-simultaneous failure of every column in the building”

William Engdahl nailed Assange on the matter nine years ago:

“Yet a closer examination of the public position of Assange on one of the most controversial issues of recent decades, the forces behind the September 11, 2001 attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center shows him to be curiously establishment. When the Belfast Telegraph interviewed him on July 19, he stated,

“”Any time people with power plan in secret, they are conducting a conspiracy. So there are conspiracies everywhere. There are also crazed conspiracy theories. It’s important not to confuse these two….” What about 9/11?: “I’m constantly annoyed that people are distracted by false conspiracies such as 9/11, when all around we provide evidence of real conspiracies, for war or mass financial fraud.” What about the Bilderberg Conference?: “That is vaguely conspiratorial, in a networking sense. We have published their meeting notes.”” –Julian Assange [bold RTW]

“That statement from a person who has built a reputation on being anti-establishment is more than notable. First, as thousands of physicists, engineers, military professionals and airline pilots have testified, the idea that 19 barely-trained Arabs armed with box-cutters could divert four US commercial jets and execute the near-impossible strikes on the Twin Towers and Pentagon over a time period of 93 minutes with not one Air Force NORAD military interception, is beyond belief. Precisely who executed the professional attack is a matter for genuine unbiased international inquiry.”

A thumbnail history of a western intelligence asset:

How does Julian Assange both; take credit for the cables release (cablegate) giving important momentum to the so-called ‘Arab Spring’ and deny he had been an agent of US intelligence who’d been instigating and engineering the very same Arab Spring via CIA fronts like Freedom House?

By 2008 the USA Department of State had been training future Arab Spring leaders in the USA (this would require planning in the preceding year, at minimum), instructing them how to organize demonstrations via social media, with the assistance of CIA fronts Freedom House and the National Endowment for Democracy, coordinated with the National Security Council by the Department of State’s Shaarik Zafar.

Subsequent to this, the WikiLeaks Arab Spring fable begins with the 2010 release of diplomatic cables as the demiurge creating a universal movement for democracy in the Arab world. Meanwhile, in 2007 Julian Assange had been the house guest of Miss Egypt, that nations number one corporate prostitute whose commercial sponsor (Pantene) ties directly to Procter and Gamble. Amy Goodman sucks up Assange’s story of Miss Egypt’s concerns for social justice and how he managed live with her literally wedged into American security, and what he was up to supposedly unbeknownst to them:

Amy Goodman: “You lived in Egypt for a time”

Julian Assange: “I lived in Egypt during 2007, so I’m familiar with the Mubarak regime and the tensions within the Egyptian environment. Actually, I was staying at the time, rather unusual circumstance, I was staying in Ms. Egypt’s house. And, Ms. Egypt’s house – other than having paintings of Ms. Egypt all throughout – was clustered right between the U.S. Embassy and the U.N. High Commission with a van outside fueled with 24 soldiers in front of my front door. So, for the type of work we were doing, this seemed to be the ultimate cover to be nested right amongst this”

NOT. You don’t live with Procter and Gamble’s premier Arab World corporate prostitute located between buildings crawling with American, United Nations, and Egyptian security & intelligence, other than with an official nod of approval. I think it’s very clear who was ‘providing cover.’

Timeline:
2007 Assange is living literally next door to the US Embassy in Egypt in an area overrun with American intelligence and security.
2008 the future Arab Spring leaderships’ training in social media is initiated in the USA, based on planning that had to predate this training by at least one year (it’s the nature of the ‘national security’ bureaucracy.)
2010 WikiLeaks releases the ‘cables’ inspiring the Egyptian (and other Arab) youth to join the Arab Spring under USA trained leadership, already in place.

Trying to square Julian Assange with his message is like trying to drive a square peg into a round hole. How does this toilet spin? Let’s try:

‘CIA, via Freedom House is training and coordinating the Arab Spring leadership. Julian Assange is releasing cables towards motivating the larger Arab youth to join the Arab Spring under that very same CIA trained and coordinated leadership. What the CIA is doing is bad. What Assange is doing is good.’

Somehow that works for alternative and progressive media.

In espionage, there are three basic means of penetrating and/or using a hostile organization to one’s advantage:

1) Turning an employee through some means such as blackmail, sex, bribery or appeal to a psychological weakness such as working on someone’s conscience or ideology and convince them to become your organization’s asset (agent/traitor)

2) Using psychology and/or disinformation to convince an organization’s staff to work to your advantage and/or commit acts against its own interests (false flag/sale)

3) Placing your own officer within the organization as an employee (spy)

Assange’s organization, WikiLeaks, would be the target of each of these methods by multiple intelligence agencies. How do the symptoms stack up? Assange’s judgement, when dealing with what turns out to have been a FBI ‘asset’ (to avoid confusion, we won’t say ‘agent’) ..

“In January 2011, Thordarson was implicated in a bizarre political scandal in which a mysterious “spy computer” laptop was found running unattended in an empty office in the parliament building. “If you did [it], don’t tell me,” Assange told Thordarson, according to unauthenticated chat logs provided by Thordarson.

“I will defend you against all accusations, ring [sic] and wrong, and stick by you, as I have done,” Assange told him in another chat the next month. “But I expect total loyalty in return””

Prior to this, Assange had been warned by a former WikiLeaks ally:

“When Julian met him for the first or second time, I was there,” says Birgitta Jonsdottir, a member of Icelandic Parliament who worked with WikiLeaks on Collateral Murder, the Wikileaks release of footage of a US helicopter attack in Iraq. “And I warned Julian from day one, there’s something not right about this guy… I asked not to have him as part of the Collateral Murder team.”

Now we have to ask; is Assange just stupid or does he tolerate moles in his organization? Which brings us to another glaring inconsistency.

The Guardian had reported concerning the WikiLeaks supposed (reported widely in ‘mainstream’ media) ‘legal expert’ accompanying Edward Snowden, Sarah Harrison, on Snowden’s odyssey to Moscow:

“Despite her closeness to Assange, Harrison may seem a strange choice to accompany Snowden, as unlike several people close to WikiLeaks – most notably human rights lawyer Jennifer Robinson – Harrison has no legal qualifications or background”

Yeah, that’s likely why Snowden faxed perfectly useless asylum requests all over the world from the Moscow airport, not realizing (technically speaking, such as in an embassy) he had to be standing on the territory of the nation he would wish to acquire asylum in.

Now we have to ask again; is Assange just stupid? With a trained expert in international human rights law (asylum expert), Jennifer Robinson, available to WikiLeaks, instead Assange sends a rank amateur, Harrison, who is suddenly a ‘legal researcher’ that didn’t so much as know you cannot make an asylum claim to a nation whose territory you’re not standing on. This smells like an intelligence embed’s cover story.

Now to a stunning example of incompetence:

“Spending time with Assange, it’s hard not to start believing that dark forces are at work. According to him, everyone’s emails are being read. For that reason, he encourages anyone planning to leak a document to post it the old fashioned way, to his PO Box”

From 18 July 2010, when that incredible statement was published by The Independent, about every intelligence agency in the western world (if not the entire planet) arranged to red flag any/all mail addressed to WikiLeaks “PO Box”, except for the fact this would already have been the case. Julian Assange had just invited whistle-blowers, and people with whatever other motivations, to give themselves up to professional forensics analysis (fingerprints, DNA, and other possibilities such as analyzing method used to reproduce leaked information while looking for identity clues, whether USB thumb drive, paper media or whatever.)

Then, to the rest of the incredibly irresponsible paragraph:

“It’s ironic that an organisation bent on blowing secrets is itself so secretive, but Wikileaks couldn’t operate without reliable sources. Except that, amazingly, Wikileaks does not verify them. “We don’t verify our sources, we verify the documents. As long as they are bona fide it doesn’t matter where they come from. We would rather not know.””

This invites culled or customized document dumps where there had been deliberate omissions strategically calculated to mislead. Missing critical components, a collection put together by intelligence agency and dropped on WikiLeaks as an information operation would be a big temptation; recalling former Pentagon liaison to the CIA, Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty speaking of the Pentagon Papers:

[They’re] “unreliable, inaccurate and marred by serious omissions. They are a contrived history”

Who would know better than one of the Pentagon Papers authors? Colonel Prouty goes on to note:

“That I had written parts of some of them proves that they were not genuine Pentagon papers, because my work at that time was devoted to support of the CIA”

Of course most those outside the intelligence world would not know military is the largest CIA cover story for its spies and that all of those in uniform who’d been writing and assembling the Pentagon Papers were working for CIA. That’s the nature of the propaganda beast.

Now, to the recent ‘Russians hacked the election’ and ‘Assange is a Russian agent’ toilet spin coming out of the USA’s mainstream newsrooms. The USA ‘intelligence’ report states:

“Judgments are not intended to imply that we have proof that shows something to be a fact. Assessments are based on collected information, which is often incomplete or fragmentary, as well as logic, argumentation, and precedents.”

Or by implication, let’s blame WikiLeaks and by extension, the Russians, because Assange is so poorly self-disciplined, sloppy, amateur and arrogant, he could be manipulated as an agent for ANYONE. In the case of WikiLeaks, this would appear to be true.

An agent or asset often does not even realize that is the role they serve. It is this last the USA’s intelligence people would have you believe is a possibility relating to WikiLeaks in relation to the so-called hack. But one should not jump to conclusion this phenomenon has Assange working solely for the Russians, just because the report’s disclaimer/weasel words essentially saying ‘if it all turns out to be bs we’re sorry’ weren’t pushed on the public by the long time CIA asset Washington Post:

All major media has run with this Washington Post story. And how would CIA journalism embeds seek to epoxy this story in the wider public’s mind? It would be with followup stories making Russia the boogeyman on a wider range of related issues, particularly if there were little, nebulous or no evidence to back the original. Consequently we have:

“On Friday, the Washington Post published an earth-shattering report that Russian hackers had infiltrated the U.S. electricity grid through a Vermont utility.

“This was huge news, and for good reason. If Russian hackers, or any hackers for that matter, had found their way into the U.S. electricity grid, there would be almost no end to the harm they could cause. Not surprisingly, the Post story spread like wildfire.

“But it turns out that none of it was true. Zip. Zero. Nada.”

And there you have it; “the Post story spread like wildfire.” Too late to stuff that genie back in the bottle. Oh, and that’s the same Washington Post that had been busted for the fake ‘fake news’ story blaming numerous alternative news outlets for pushing Russian propaganda when in fact many were simply reporting what mainstream does not, particularly stories concerning corrupted American institutions. That one (the fake part) is embedded in the larger American psyche as though it were gospel. That’s how propaganda works.

Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post for $300 million. Bezos is also majority owner of Amazon, which holds a $600 million contract with the CIA. Which do you suppose is the better business move for billionaire Bezos? Calling out the CIA on its malfeasance? Or the Post taking CIA scripts for its reporting?

What should one look for if Assange is actually the asset of a western intelligence agency set on framing the Russians? The 1st clue would be the Washington Post putting plenty of ink into spinning the story, here’s a few samples:

Assange’s denials, counter-intuitive as this might seem, could be on the up & up and he’s still an intelligence asset. Only not necessarily a Russian intelligence asset, going to:

The 2nd clue would be if there were infighting between cliques in the USA’s national security establishment or a turf war. We have ample indications of that, and there is two distinct possibilities; the first being intelligence operatives aligned with the (pre-election) out of favor NSA-Pentagon-Christian Zionist-Israeli-Kissinger (Trump aligned) intelligence clique laundered the Clinton campaign [DNC] mails via a disgruntled Sanders supporter through to WikiLeaks to damage Clinton. The second possibility being the leaked mails were solely via a straightforward disgruntled Saunders Democrat; either case causing the (soon to be out of favor) Brennan-Obama-CIA-Brzezinski (Clinton aligned) clique to use the WikiLeaks release to frame Russia and damage Trump.

I’m of the opinion it is Trump aligned intelligence professionals laundered the emails through to WikiLeaks; an organization that has shown itself highly vulnerable to penetration and manipulation, in the main due to the incredible narcissism, arrogance, carelessness and associated poor judgement of Julian Assange.

WikiLeaks likely has been manipulated as an agent by several intelligence agencies on multiple occasions. In fact the organization smells so bad, Vegas should put its bookies on events surrounding Julian Assange.

Meanwhile, try driving this square peg…

Tor is a supposedly secure system developed by US intelligence so their ‘color revolutionaries’ (abroad) could communicate securely (without being intercepted by the national governments the USA was looking to overthrow.) Meanwhile it was sales-pitched as a system to elude everyone and everything. NO CHANCE. WikiLeaks inviting leaks and communications via Tor is like inviting Uncle Sam to sit at the WikiLeaks kitchen table in WikiLeaks intimate discussions with those providing leaked materials.

Finally, it would be small wonder if Assange denied a childhood cult experience that would call into account plausible frailties integrated to his underlying psychology. Should the horrors of such an experience forgo any public examination? Not if you’re the man who has placed himself in position to demand answers; as to what could be the underlying cause of so many conflicts between proposed facts? Could Assange have lived 3 or so years with a cult member and NOT have been exposed to the cult? There are too many conflicts in what Assange proposes, as opposed to the more established facts, to responsibly look the other way.

Assange’s exposure to the Hamilton-Byrne cult (a.k.a. The Family) as a child is both admitted and denied. It is (sort of) admitted his step-father was associated with the cult and denied by Assange he had been exposed to the cult. The step-father was in his life from ages 8 to 11, bringing up a photo throwing Assange’s denials into doubt:

It’s not often I’ve written on WikiLeaks, however my position hasn’t changed significantly since I’d first written on the subject six years ago. Whether Assange is unaware he’s done the CIA large favors in the past (Assange’s years 8-11 profile like an MKUltra field exercise) or is aware and has woke up to the fact Langley, Virginia, has a habit of stabbing its assets in the back, is not so important as people knowing WikiLeaks is a living, functioning urban legend … insofar as the image versus the reality –

Note: The group photo with the child Assange (it clearly is Julian) has been around the internet for years and I’ve yet to see it disputed as authentic. It’s almost as though mainstream has decided if they pretend it’s not there, it’ll go away. Analyzing Fraud in Democracy Movements

I was looking for an article I’d written some years back, while pulling together information for a piece on Julian Assange (stay tuned), and I stumbled across this piece. With all of the ‘fake news’ propaganda swirling like a toilet spin in the mainstream news rooms of the USA, here is a flashback to my ‘Stool & Dunce Cap’ blog at Alternet prior to that ‘alternative news’ outlet shutting down my soap box. Recovered via the internet ‘way back machine’, some of the links are dead.

February 2012 has been recorded in the annals of history, and according to my personal philosophy and Native traditions, it is in order to give gifts on the occasion of celebrating my 61st year. This particular gift is a tool created for anyone who wished or dared to pursue penetrating the illusions we are fed by media.

Of the many shameless liars prostituting for fascist, racist killers while pursuing profit in the name of democracy, the New York Times is the head I propose to deliver to my public readership on a platter. Let’s call it a gift of public service to humanity.

That the New York Times is a corporate prostitute frequently fronting CIA propaganda operations, is a matter I have delved into on previous occasion.

Now, the point is to show in a few easy reading pages, how anyone can tear these ‘information operations’ [psy-ops] apart and determine for themselves what is actually behind the story. With the long time CIA associated ‘Freedom House’ in trouble in Egypt in recent days, we can use this Times ‘Freedom House’ friendly propaganda story

Times quote: “Two of the American groups, affiliated with the Republican and Democratic parties, said they have taught the nuts and bolts of grass-roots organizing, political campaigns and democratic elections to anyone willing to listen, trying to avoid favoring any Egyptian political faction. Another, Freedom House, said it has trained young activists and run international exchange programs. The fourth American group, the International Center for Journalists, does training on how a free press operates”

Gee, if they are teaching them anything like the New York Times operates (more on NYT operation a bit further on), I suggest they read up on former CIA agent Phillip Agee’s analysis of ‘Freedom House’ organizational utility:

Agee quote: ”One may wonder why the CIA would be needed in these programs. There were several reasons. One reason from the beginning was the CIA’s long experience and huge stable of agents and contacts in the civil societies of countries around the world. By joining with the CIA, NED and [US]AID would come on board an on-going complex of operations whose funding they could take over while leaving the secret day-to-day direction on the ground to CIA officers. In addition someone had to monitor and report the effectiveness of the local recipients’ activities. Now, why would the New York Times presentation be so far removed from reality, when compared to the CIA actuality? A few of the Times controlling influences (Directors) and their associations:

NYT Director Thomas Middelhoff > Bertelsmann AG which has media holdings in, and can influence opinion in, 63 countries around the world

NYT Director Janet Robinson > Carnegie Corporation where Robinson sits with 1% players, including Morgan Stanley and Rothschild bankers

NYT Director William Kennard > Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies > United States Chamber of Commerce which is the USA’s NUMBER ONE 1% corporate policy entity > blatant example here

NYT Director Doreen Tobin > JP Morgan a 1% player

NYT Director James Kilts > MetLife a 1% player

It is likely safe to say the New York Times directors sitting on the boards of MetLife, JP Morgan, Carnegie Corporation, and Bertelsmann AG all in turn hold investments in stocks and these directors have portfolios with a vested interest in propping an overall scheme up.

That you will find bad people with intelligence agency ties in the most unexpected places can be quite disconcerting:

When the inter-related corporate players actual pecuniary interests are revealed by exposing lateral associations [as opposed to analyzing vertical isolated chains of corporate command and misleading portraits of their head to head relationships to governments] it becomes very clear the entire process is a form of colonialism, with clusters of corporate players making up what amount to modern fiefs.

The USA ‘democracy’ promoting ‘democracy’ provides cover for any number of wealthy sociopath personalities in any given circumstance, ripping off various natural resources concessions in the nations manipulated in the scheme with intelligence agencies and corporate boards calling the shots from where the various players vector.

Meanwhile, less resource rich but strategically located nations are heavily militarized and manipulated to prop up what is in essence a scam organized towards the looting of the innocents, largely upheld with weapons sales subsidized by the USA taxpayer. We fork over the billions in military aid which are then spent to buy weapons from the defense industry which in turn props up the looting of other nations timber, diamonds, oil, et cetera, often bought on the cheap via proxy ‘rebel’ movements [sterling example here].

This racket is becoming clear and it is small wonder there are incessant legislative campaigns to clamp down on the internet with its information freedoms.

The fallout of this corporate colonial ‘get rich[er] quick’ scheme promoted in the guise of ‘democracy’ has produced hatred of the western industrialized nations, hate for the USA particularly, and underlies the birth and spread of the so-called ‘terrorism’ which in turn has been used to justify more and larger ‘security’ programs propping up the very same scheme used during the so-called ‘cold war’ now renamed the ‘war on terror’ in what has becoming a greed based avalanche of world instability.

Combined with current events factoids, Wikipedia and Sourcewatch, anyone with basic internet competence [ability to follow links and do key word searches such as ‘African Wildlife Foundation, MI6, CIA’ or ‘Fossey Foundation, arms trafficking’] and is able to make and organize notes while sifting out blatantly misinformed or amateur articles, can learn to overcome disinformation, do their own analysis, map the corporate activities, identify the rip-offs and peoples exploited by these schemes, all while identifying the actual players and motives behind the New York Times propaganda.

Apply the preceding method and the result is quite clear; the New York Times is but one arm of a mechanism to deceive on behalf of a corporate centered sociopath get-mega-rich[er]-quick scheme of the 1%, exploiting Americans belief in their institutions, any consequence to the USA and actual democracy be damned in process

Since I’d penned this article in 2012, much information has been developed on USA intelligence manipulating media, not least google, time to time, setting filters to screen out information from public access. What is new is this past week’s leak of the document provided to ‘die linke’ demonstrating the German government is in full knowledge and complicity with these criminal acts; with the accessory to the crime act of concealment of NATO state sponsored terror. Vice News and the CIA should be sued for libeling the American voters intelligence (except they might win, perhaps the theme of a future satire.) Ok, this will be short and sweet. Per the VICE article title, the CIA guy (once CIA, always CIA) is running as an ‘independent’ Republican to stop Trump. Oh, except he’s actually running to stop Hillary:

“McMullin’s campaign could signal an effort by Republicans to stop Clinton from taking Utah in November. McMullin is a Utah native, a graduate of Brigham Young University, and a Mormon. Trump is polling badly in the Mormon-dominated state and many Republicans fear that they could lose a longtime stronghold altogether”

So, let’s suppose “former CIA operative” Evan McMullin wins Utah to stop Hillary, er, that is Trump. Now, in the case of a McMullin victory, do the math; he can’t give Utah’s electoral votes to either candidate and come off as clean, so he drops the traditionally secure Utah Republican vote into an electoral void, helping Hillary. That being the case, shouldn’t the article’s title have read:

A former CIA operative is running for president to help Hillary

But the article is pitched as stopping Trump AND Hillary… stop Hillary winning Utah by offering a nominally Republican alternative to Trump so Utah’s lily-white Mormon moral vote can be tossed into an electoral void, helping Hillary without admitting it is Republicans helping Hillary. And the voter is supposed into buy this. Actually, yeah, that could work to assuage the moral conscience of the Mormon religious right, because:

But the really creepy portion of the article is somewhat off topic:

OPPORTUNITY: 9/11 War Games

“Cheney was managing multiple war games and terror drills on 9/11 that paralyzed U.S. Air Force response.

“In May of 2001 Dick Cheney was placed directly in charge of managing the “seamless integration” of all training exercises throughout the federal government and military agencies by presidential mandate. The morning of 9/11 began with multiple training exercises of war games and terror drills which Cheney, as mandated by the president, was placed in charge of managing.

“War games & terror drills included live-fly exercises with military aircraft posing as hijacked aircraft over the United States, as well as simulated exercises that placed “false blips” (radar injects indicating virtual planes) on FAA radar screens. One exercise titled NORTHERN VIGILANCE pulled Air Force fighters up into Canada simulating a Russian air attack, so there were very few fighters remaining on the east coast to respond. All of this paralyzed Air Force response ensuring that fighter jocks couldn’t stop 9/11.

“An unknown individual or command center referred to by Major Don Arias of NORAD as the “maestro” coordinated the war games. It is possible there was more than one maestro, but no one will name names. FTW has asked this question of everyone in relevant government and military positions, to no avail. Actually the 28 pages distract from the fact (among other facts) Dick Cheney rolled out the red carpet for 9/11 to occur. The ’28 pages’ release in a limited context (the larger picture still concealed) points to a PSYOP and the Doug Coe cult is likely behind this PSYOP as the 9/11 narrative has been unraveling in the public psyche. It follows, the 28 pages release is an attempt to stuff the 9/11 genie into a different bottle. What’s certain is (the Robert Gates-Bandar bin Sultan/CIA-Saudi intelligence joint venture) al-Qaida was a minor actor, patsy and cover story, and was not primarily responsible for 9/11. There are several possible scenarios.

Recalling Robert McFarlane, Ronald Reagan’s National Security Adviser, had been working for Israeli intelligence (source Ari Ben Menache), there is practically no position in American government cannot be construed to be at risk of penetration and compromise by MOSSAD via AIPAC. How this might play in the events of 9/11 is open to conjecture; Ariel Sharon, the Israeli prime minister on 9/11, was a man possessed of the necessary character to murder three thousand people in a gambit to get the USA to fight Israel’s wars, this much is clear. Whether MOSSAD had co-opted enough key people in the USA security apparatus to bring it off, is not.

At odds with the Israelis’ initiating the attacks is the fact of Dick Cheney ordering the New York area air defense shut down for the morning of 11 September, while a ‘coincidental’ exercise was to be run simulating a ‘terrorist attack’ with jet liners crashing into New York sky-scrapers. Could Cheney’s team all have been Israeli assets? It seems unlikely. On the other hand, it is classic Israeli style to use their enemies, wherever possible, to take care of their most dirty work. And America is LIKUD’s enemy in a cold political calculation. Related to this, however MOSSAD and Saudi intelligence might cooperate in common geopolitical interests, most certainly Israel and Saudi Arabia are not friends. Utilizing al-Qaida as a front to initiate the attacks, or utilizing Saudis as patsies for a false-flag ‘terrorist’ attack, either one, is consistent with Israeli style; in the past MOSSAD has laundered operations through the PLO for purpose of everything from terrorism for propaganda purposes, to political murders.

A related possibility is the Israelis duping the USA’s people into assisting with their operation. The Israelis may have/had the necessary access and certainly the motivation; whereas the Americans have repeatedly demonstrated they are guilty of that particular brand of hubris that is blinding.

Another possible scenario is the USA’s geopolitical intelligence engineers having penetrated an Israeli operation and opened doors for the 9/11 actors, basically rolling out the red carpet for an Israeli run operation, unbeknownst to the Israelis, a covert co-option if you will.

There is also a strong possibility of a joint venture.

The strongest possibility is the Bush criminal syndicate is responsible for 9/11, taking care to frame the Saudis and Israelis in case the operation were to unravel. This most likely possibility (in this investigators mind) points to the apocalyptic Doug Coe cult, encompassing both the Bush regime’s ‘spirituality’ and Hillary Clinton’s ‘faith’, and the power elite associated with the so-called ‘National Prayer Breakfast’ as behind 9/11.

In any of these hypothesis, Rudy Guiliani having located his disaster headquarters in WTC Building 7 (with Dick Cheney in overall commannd on the day of the attacks), brought down with a controlled demolition on the afternoon of 9/11, is key.

Per the National Prayer Breakfast per se:

“The Family describes itself as an invisible association. Ronald Regan [sic] said, when asked about the Family: “I wish I could say more about it, but it’s working precisely because it is private.”

“Publically, the Family meets at the well-known National Prayer Breakfast where oil executives, defense contractors, insurance corporations and the banking industry come together with members of Capital Hill under the guise of having muffins and saying a few prayers to Christ. In this way, the influence of the Family can be kept secret while they are effecting political diplomacy and given access to our US government reserved for elected officials.

“In a mission statement, the Family asserts: We desire to see a leadership led by God. Leaders of all levels of society who direct projects as they are led by the spirit.” Political leaders should be advancing God’s kingdom. The use of prayer groups, or cells, having met at the Department of Defense and the Pentagon are facilitated by the Family to keep strong spiritual ties to the oil, defense and aerospace industries”

Insofar as responsibility & accountability, there is none. These Family agencies or actors, having penetrated the Pentagon …

… and responsible for violence across the world, would have access to tactical nuclear weapons or ‘suitcase nukes’ for purpose of false-flag terrorism, were it to come to the likes of a Hillary Clinton determined to up the ante, as opposed to face accountability:

Militarized Cops Equals Dead Blacks & Then What?

I’d originally posted this piece in December 2014 under the title ‘metadata & panorama.’ In hindsight I should have given it a different title… one more apropos to a militarized police mentality. New, appended notes on the Dallas police killings, follow this republished article:

Well, let’s offer a not so wonderful view of what’s up with the symbiotic relationship between the USA’s military and the USA’s police forces and I’m not talking about giving police charged with ‘protecting schools’ grenade launchers, machine guns and other inappropriate ‘surplus’ equipment. Rather I’m going to write about the altogether wrong sort of meme involved with creating a collective mentality, germinated in the American military and infused into the American ‘civilian’ police.

We’ll go for this short ride employing simple social psychology principles in combination with demographics. When ‘veterans preference’ is imposed on police hiring as a matter of law, and a society such as ours is one recently put through some considerable stresses, economic and social, resulting in both heightened paranoia and less opportunities at well paying jobs, the civilian police forces will become packed with ‘war on terror’ military veterans. This combined phenomena will translate into many veterans who’ve developed an ‘us versus the enemy’ mentality integrated into America’s police forces in relation to community, particularly when ‘community’ is demographically dissimilar to one’s own, and this mindset manifests when Black communities are policed largely by White officers.

Now, we stir into the mix some more unpleasant facts; in today’s America, conservatism has become poisoned by the religious right. A volunteer military is historically attractive to conservative mentality, more so than other outlooks, and this is what will be fed into the police hiring rosters in by far out of proportion (to larger society) numbers. The religious right is primarily White and has undeniable racist roots in a large segment or subculture. But there is more than significant, underlying elements of racism at issue here.

The soldiers advocate-civil rights group Military Religious Freedom Foundation, has determined that somewhere between 28 and 34% of the United States military is presently “Christian Dominionist” or that is to say hardcore or on the right of the religious right. These people do not respect secular democracy, they do not respect people holding opinion of tolerance or diversity, and they most certainly do not respect a civil rights movement traditionally rooted in the left of the political spectrum.

A simple rule of social psychology would be, with an extreme ‘strict father’ model of conservatism upbringing, extreme even by traditional conservative standards, the religious extremist desiring to exercise ‘authority’ is the prototype personality that will most often gravitate to police employ via ‘veterans preference’ … strengthening the hand of those fascist forces rapidly gaining practical control over American society as a whole. Religious-right sympathetic personalities have already gained control over Congress and the Pentagon and by extension, NATO, and now these patently reactionary, militant forces are taking practical control of America’s streets, the Posse Comitatus Act notwithstanding.

Now, as a matter of consequence, our rapidly militarizing police have integrated, and continue to integrate, those personalities most inclined to view the public they were intended to serve as an opposing or threatening force .. with all of the attending impunity they experienced in a hyper-religious military environment; whether an attitude a woman’s rape ‘must’ve been God’s will’ with little motivation to pursue and solve cases or punish perpetrators (except in case of a Black on White rape, that must be prosecuted in any White supremacist ruled society), men whose military background had been poisoned by theological interpretations on the far right by officers who shoved religious motivation down soldiers throats (officers who believe Muslims are ‘the children of Satan’ as taught by the Assemblies of God, example given), soldiers now moved on to bashing in the heads of protestors because they must be liberal, left, deviants, and certainly it translates to White officers policing Black neighborhoods seeing themselves in circumstance little different to occupying a hostile neighborhood in a war zone; where everyone, including children, are not only a threat, but are in no uncertain terms viewed as ‘the enemy.’

At the end of the day, ’veterans preference’, without safeguard to weed out those tens of thousands of “Christian Dominion” personalities whose primary motive is towards an America to be ruled by those ‘chosen by God’ (their own kind, exclusively, who just happen to be mostly White) in patent violation of our constitution, and with attending attitude of our citizens civil rights be damned, is one more large step on the road to societal disintegration ultimately inviting a severity of control along the lines of Franco’s Spain or Pinochet’s Chile (or worse)

A postscript would be, the USA’s constitutional prohibition of any prerequisite ‘religious test’ to serve in government, would appear to have been turned on its head in present circumstance; whereas any applicant for police work in any federally funded force (now days includes nearly all, if not all, police in the USA) could not be questioned or evaluated per a religious belief devoted to the undermining and ultimate overthrow of the secular democratic principle, opening a most unpleasant panorama-

The preceding article is but one twist in a worsening and fast growing violence having to do with terrorist acts in the USA, whether foreign instigated or homegrown domestic. In Dallas, immediately, it is apparent the reporting is problematic; with initial reports of multiple snipers firing from elevated positions, which would be consistent with an initial high rate of police casualties. Most of the police appear to have been gunned down in the first minutes. It was also reported the fire (from multiple snipers) was “triangulated” or a professionally set up, coordinated ambush. Former CIA officer & clandestine service Afghanistan veteran William Hurd stated:

“When gunfire started exchanging, you had folks in cross positions that were moving towards the target,” the Texas Republican told Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” program. “Usually, most folks that have never been in that situation are going the opposite direction. The level of coordination, there seemed to be some type of triangulation.”

This information is also stated by the Dallas Chief of Police:

“We believe these suspects were positioning themselves in a way to try to triangulate against officers,” Brown said”

But within 48 hours the narrative had dramatically changed; it is now a ‘lone gunman’ whom the police took care to blow up with a robot after they had him cornered (never-mind they’d initially reported he’d shot himself.) Question: Why, after cornering the suspect, instead of holding out for a negotiated surrender and possible critically important intelligence gains, would they take him out with an explosive device? How could the professional police of Dallas, many of them military veterans qualified to make an accurate first assessment, get it all so wrong as to have to change the entire story? In my estimation, it recalls the following piece, originally posted in September, 2013:

The Navy Yard Reporting Smells Wrong

There were initial reports of 3 distinct gunmen, in at least two separate locations, with descriptions radioed to area policemen. A professional SWAT team happened to be in close proximity, was on location almost immediately and were ordered to stand down (told to take no action and leave the area.) The shooting goes on and eventually a ‘lone’ gunman is ‘shot dead.’ He is a worker among the dead workers at the Navy Yard.

Meanwhile, initial reports of two or three shooters in separate locations and their descriptions vanish from the reporting and the dead ‘shooter’ is credited with shooting from multiple locations. But the SWAT team ordered away from the incident will not go away in the news, the members insist on knowing why they were ordered not to stop the just beginning killing rampage and leave the area (allowing it to go on.)

See anything wrong with this picture? Engineered Massacre? This one, with a professional SWAT team almost immediately on location but then ordered not to interfere and leave, has all the necessary ammunition, so to speak, to provide conspiracy theorists with enough credibility to have a bit of a deeper look.

Aurora: The evidence covered up by law enforcement and the court in the ‘Batman’ theater shooting is nothing short of overwhelming. Video of close eyewitness accounts clearly detail the shooter(s) had inside help and this evidence is suppressed. The accused James Holmes is so drugged at his arraignment, he keeps nodding off, with not enough mental facility to so much as be cognizant of his surroundings, let alone to engage what is actually happening. Holmes immediate pre-incident history points to experience with CIA/military behavior modification along the lines of MKULTRA/MONARCH which had been (according to a former CIA Officer) simply laundered or re-concealed rather than dismantled as the agency had claimed.

The actors and motive? It would appear American constitutional ‘right to bear arms’ is under assault with deliberate shootings aimed at generating a public outrage sufficient to justify taking the American peoples’ arms away and the attending threat to a ‘Deep State’ exposed; for which there is overwhelming circumstantial evidence in the public domain. Almost certainly Aurora was the ‘Deep State crime family’ at work, seeking to disarm the American people, this goes on not only with assaults but also with propaganda.

With this new incident, were it necessary to prevent any interruption of a crime and subsequent engineering of a crime scene, most certainly a professional SWAT team that did not fit into the plan, would have to be ordered away from the Navy Yard.

Whether this is in fact the deep state syndicate social engineering for the neo-liberal Obama, providing Obama growing political capital to push for removing the right of the people to bear arms, we may never know, but we certainly may question this event’s authenticity; on account of the indisputable engineering and cover-up of the incident at Aurora, Colorado. What’s more, the Navy Yard smells of covert social engineering through terror along the lines of Operation GLADIO (as in ‘we’ve seen this s**t before’)

Parting Shot

And because it is so important to protect the core belief, they will rationalize, ignore and even deny anything that doesn’t fit in with the core belief” – Frantz Fanon

The preceding paragraph illuminates a social phenomena played by corporate owned mainstream media, taking advantage of people everyday. ‘Alternative media’ is meant to circumvent this but in fact often is a wolf dressed in the proverbial sheep’s clothing. Here is why:

All of the ‘alternative’ news outlets (all of those with any degree of independence and significant readership in any case) will be targets of the several competing intelligence agencies wishing to shape discourse. The ability of the agencies to do this will depend on the environment, awareness, personality, sympathies and approach of the producers. Zerohedge is (my perhaps imperfect assessment) far less manipulative than, example given, TomDispatch (a blatant case) but no matter the outlet there is always some degree of risk the consumer will absorb deliberate disinformation. Additionally, ideological alignment will play in the alternative outlets, no matter how clean. Information is shaped both by conscious effort and unconscious influences.

I would place zerohedge in that category where anti-corporate, libertarian ideology (yes, there is such a thing, as opposed to corporate controlled or manipulated ‘libertarian’ tea party, e.g. Koch brothers) shapes its discourse on the right, over on the left there are also examples, for instance Global Research, Voltaire Net and more recently The Intercept are all to some extent shaped by ideology or personal prejudices. Of course intelligence agencies will look at every opportunity to exploit these outlets. The Intercept appears to have been co-opted rather quickly by western intelligence via its bank-roller Pierre Omidyar; particularly on the Ukraine discourse (Glenn Greenwald’s disclaimers notwithstanding.)

In cases of more insidious perversion of information, a common modus operandi is to associate events that cannot be concealed with the wrong party (false flag is pervasive method of disinformation) and embed facts together with inventions in the discourse. Consortium News is a past master at this, for instance Robert Parry consistently shaping the discourse to point to incompetent or maverick Ukrainian military downing MH 17 with a Buk surface to air missile, as opposed to the Ukrainian SU 25 combat jet which he steadfastly refuses to so much as mention much less consider. The point of method like this can be to create a face saving or less damaging escape for the western aligned parties in the event the initial propaganda efforts blaming Russia fall apart. Better some drunk or incompetent Ukrainian military performed the shoot down in the public eye (in the western intelligence view) than a Ukrainian air force jet on orders from Kiev. A secondary possible effect (the CIA would hope) is when, more likely than if, considering the incompetence involved, the west’s MH 17 story falls apart, the Russians will allow for the alternative line put forward by someone like Parry in return for concessions in the ‘spirit’ of so-called ‘Realpolitik’ where cynical geopolitical deals will necessarily determine truth must be the first casualty.

Another method is to play on peoples’ sense of helplessness while steering them away from the essential reality and attending motivations by keeping them preoccupied with outrage. That’s Tom Engelhardt’s method. A short research pulls up CIA associated funding underlying TomDispatch, originating with Ford Foundation grants, laundered via The Nation Institute (The Nation is another long time intelligence penetrated organization, host of disinformation puppet Bob Dreyfuss.)

Just a few short but critical examples. The best one can do with all of this is to keep track of the metadata threads (facts within events than cannot be denied) while being careful not to be sucked into the attending spin. Assembling a focus this way, you seldom will get a perfect picture but done competently, one should certainly get a far clearer understanding of what’s actually going on.

A footnote would be, the Russians recognize the western press is so corrupt, they don’t need to much engage in overt deceits but more or less stick to the facts surrounding events (as much as possible) to gain credibility, and when this is not an option, their preferred fallback technique is ‘lies by omission.’ The western consumer taking in RT gets a much better deal than the eastern consumer lapping up the Helsinki based, western mainstream media clone misnamed ‘The Moscow Times.’

This information has been forwarded on (via email) to the leadership of the German parliament, as well the German federal prosecutor’s office, the German constitutional court, and the International Criminal Court. One can only wonder how long the criminally complicit politicians will sit on their hands and do nothing. German politicians have known for quite sometime that BND (German CIA) head Gerhard Schindler lied to them when he stated Assad ordered the sarin gas attack at Ghouta, Syria in August 2013. As well, Germany has a provision of law under the principle of universal jurisdiction which could be used to prosecute these crimes and a constitutional loophole bigger than the Brandenberg Gate that allows passing on prosecutions when in ‘the best interest of the state.’

When the Turkish government seized Today’s Zaman newspaper on 5 March 2016, it was only a matter of time before the Zaman English website was taken down. Today I checked and discovered the site has indeed been taken offline (and had been replaced with a Turkish language site featuring Erdogan’s government line.) Anticipating something like this, I’d saved a few stories together with screenshots; here is the most damning story and a prime motivation behind the criminal Erdogan administration’s act of taking over the most popular news outlet in Turkey. As the several NATO states shed what are clearly crocodile tears over Turkey’s suppression of a free press, none will point to stories such as this following; in fact there will be only relief that evidence NATO is doing business with & propping up war criminals will have been swept under the rug. Two deputies from the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) have claimed that the government is against investigating Turkey’s role in sending toxic sarin gas which was used in an attack on civilians in Syria in 2013 and in which over 1,300 Syrians were killed.

CHP deputies Eren Erdem and Ali Şeker held a press conference in İstanbul on Wednesday in which they claimed the investigation into allegations regarding Turkey’s involvement in the procurement of sarin gas which was used in the chemical attack on a civil population and delivered to the terrorist Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) to enable the attack was derailed.

Taking the floor first, Erdem stated that the Adana Chief Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into allegations that sarin was sent to Syria from Turkey via several businessmen. An indictment followed regarding the accusations targeting the government.

“The MKE [Turkish Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation] is also an actor that is mentioned in the investigation file. Here is the indictment. All the details about how sarin was procured in Turkey and delivered to the terrorists, along with audio recordings, are inside the file,” Erdem said while waving the file.

Erdem also noted that the prosecutor’s office conducted detailed technical surveillance and found that an al-Qaeda militant, Hayyam Kasap, acquired sarin, adding: “Wiretapped phone conversations reveal the process of procuring the gas at specific addresses as well as the process of procuring the rockets that would fire the capsules containing the toxic gas. However, despite such solid evidence there has been no arrest in the case. Thirteen individuals were arrested during the first stage of the investigation but were later released, refuting government claims that it is fighting terrorism,” Erdem noted.

Over 1,300 people were killed in the sarin gas attack in Ghouta and several other neighborhoods near the Syrian capital of Damascus, with the West quickly blaming the regime of Bashar al-Assad and Russia claiming it was a “false flag” operation aimed at making US military intervention in Syria possible.

Suburbs near Damascus were struck by rockets containing the toxic sarin gas in August 2013.

The purpose of the attack was allegedly to provoke a US military operation in Syria which would topple the Assad regime in line with the political agenda of then-Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his government.

CHP deputy Şeker spoke after Erdem, pointing out that the government misled the public on the issue by asserting that sarin was provided by Russia. The purpose was to create the perception that, according to Şeker, “Assad killed his people with sarin and that requires a US military intervention in Syria.”

He also underlined that all of the files and evidence from the investigation show a war crime was committed within the borders of the Turkish Republic.

“The investigation clearly indicates that those people who smuggled the chemicals required to procure sarin faced no difficulties, proving that Turkish intelligence was aware of their activities. While these people had to be in prison for their illegal acts, not a single person is in jail. Former prime ministers and the interior minister should be held accountable for their negligence in the incident,” Şeker further commented.

Erdem also added that he will launch a criminal complaint against those responsible, including those who issued a verdict of non-prosecution in the case, those who did not prevent the transfer of chemicals and those who first ordered the arrest of the suspects who were later released.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced in late August that an inquiry had been launched into the gas attacks allegedly perpetuated by both Assad’s Syrian regime and rebel groups fighting in Syria since the civil war erupted in 2011.

However, Erdem is not the only figure who has accused Turkey of possible involvement in the gas attack. Pulitzer Prize winner and journalist, Seymour M. Hersh, argued in an article published in 2014 that MİT was involved with extremist Syrian groups fighting against the Assad regime.

In his article, Hersh said Assad was not behind the attack, as claimed by the US and Europe, but that Turkish-Syrian opposition collaboration was trying to provoke a US intervention in Syria in order to bring down the Assad regime.

4 April 2017 update: With the new accusations of Assad (and by extension, the Russians) having used chemical weapons in Syria, it does well to recall what the NATO states have never come clean about; independent sources having arrived at the conclusion it was NOT Assad’s people had attacked with chemicals at Ghouta, Syria, in August 2013. This was a NATO nation’s intelligence agency perpetrated the chemical attack resulting in well over 1,000 dead.

8 April 2018 update: Another chemical attack accusation with blame on Assad and Russia, at Douma, Syria. This is nothing less than a war-footing preparatory propaganda and a criminal act of NATO sponsored ‘moderate rebels.’ The information in this article is the Achilles Heel that should put this nonsense to rest. This suppressed information points squarely to the actual perpetrators, NATO and the NATO proxies in Syria.

Updated 31 July 2016: So, now in (post-coup attempt) Turkey it’s a choice between the democratically elected paranoid narcissist Erdogan, who’s been intimate with the CIA in the efforts to overthrow Assad, behaving somewhat like Mao during the cultural revolution (democratic principles have recently died in Turkey the attentive might notice) embarking on a massive purge of the CIA sponsored Gulen movement and turning to the Russians to keep him in power; or whoever NATO (a future coup) will again attempt replacing him with. Some choice.

Meanwhile (pre-coup attempt) a Gulen associated newspaper, Today’s Zaman, had been shut down by Erdogan following its’ reporting Turkey’s intelligence agency MIT was doing business with Islamic State (supplying arms), as well MIT had facilitated supplying the sarin components used by al-Qaida at Ghouta, Syria in August 2013 (blamed in western media on Assad.) The journalists were jailed. The CHP deputies (members of parliament) who’d produced the sarin investigative files (by now jailed investigating police and judges) have since had their immunity lifted. The main opposition CHP (Republican People’s Party), also under repression, can hardly be accused of any historic sympathy for Gulen. The censored reporting checks out as absolutely legitimate and had been doing the USA no favors. So, who did the shutting down of Today’s Zaman benefit? It follows, the post-coup attempt Gulen ‘fifth column’ purge argument is simplistic, inaccurate, serves as cover for a much wider purge on behalf of the blossoming dictator Erdogan, and as well has been about shutting up news outlets exposing Erdogan as complicit in CIA associated crimes. It’s not a black & white movie folks. If the CHP has been recently linking up with the so-called Gulen movement, it is most certainly survival driven. Then, there’d been the Zaman reporting on the (not so small) matter of Islamic State doing the bulk of its oil exports via Erdogan’s Turkey, as noted previously by the Russians (and admitted by the Pentagon.)

A bit of post-coup attempt levity on Turkey’s purge of the so-called ‘Gulen movement’ or ‘fifth column’ would be an analogy; if every Reform Jew in the USA were fired from their civil service job, inclusive of police, judges, educators, military, legislators, mayors and more, because their leadership were international criminals in bed with MOSSAD via AIPAC, the result would be tens of thousands of honest civil servants who went to work every day simply to do a honest job; purged as a so-called ‘fifth column.’ Tens upon tens of thousands of firings and arrests in Turkey because Gulen has slept with the CIA (Erdogan had done that as well) cannot be construed to be neutralizing a ‘fifth column’ but should rather be construed to be a fracturing society on the road to a police state and likely civil war. The CIA associated Gulen’s notorious rival, the (until just recently) CIA associated paranoid-narcissist Erdogan, might be in some respects popular but popularity does not excuse world class crimes. Meanwhile, the Russians might consider the criminal character and motives of Erdogan, now that he’s pivoting in their direction (I’m certain Putin has no illusions about the filthy character embodied in the current President of Turkey.) It follows, NATO is about to come apart at the seams, Turkey had been their historic under-belly access to Russia and storage site of up to 100 tactical nuclear weapons, guarded by Erdogan’s military. Meanwhile it is reported the 6 March Sunday Zaman paper sold in Turkey’s newstands runs a headline of Erdogan at a newly constructed bridge ribbon cutting ceremony…

An İstanbul court has appointed trustees to take over the management of the Feza Media Group, which includes Turkey’s biggest-selling newspaper, the Zaman daily, as well as the Today’s Zaman daily and the Cihan news agency, dealing a fresh blow to the already battered media freedom in Turkey.

The decision was issued by the İstanbul 6th Criminal Court of Peace at the request of the İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, which claimed that the media group acted upon orders from what it called the “Fethullahist Terrorist Organization/Parallel State Structure (FETÖ/PDY),” praising the group and helping it achieve its goals in its publications.

The prosecutor also claimed that the alleged terrorist group is cooperating with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist organization to topple the Turkish government and that high-level officials of the two groups have had meetings abroad.

The court decision means that the entire management and the editorial board of Feza Media Group companies will be replaced by the three-member board named by the court.

A crowd of Zaman and Today’s Zaman journalists, readers and supporters gathered outside Zaman’s headquarters as court-appointed trustees were expected to arrive at any moment.

Zaman Editor-in-Chief Abdülhamit Bilici addressed his colleagues on the grounds of the newspaper, calling the court decision a “black day for democracy” in Turkey as journalists and other newspaper workers held up signs that read: “Don’t touch my newspaper” and chanted “free press cannot be silenced!”

“Today, we are experiencing a shameful day for media freedom in Turkey. Our media institutions are being seized,” Today’s Zaman Editor-in-Chief Sevgi Akarçeşme said as she addressed the crowd.

“As of today, the Constitution has been suspended,” she said, referencing to the fact that the Turkish Constitution forbids seizure of printing houses and press equipment.

Şahin Alpay, a veteran political expert and a columnist for both Zaman and Today’s Zaman, lamented the situation, saying Turkey is having a “dark day” when one of the most prominent media outlets in the country is being confiscated at the order of a political leader.

“It is utterly saddening, particularly for people of my generation, that Turkey is turning into a third-world dictatorship,” Alpay said.

The takeover of Zaman comes as President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the government of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) that he founded intensified pressure on the Turkish media. Zaman, which is affiliated with the Gülen movement, is one of the few opposition media outlets in the country, which is dominated by pro-government television stations and newspapers.

Turkey’ satellite provider Türksat halted the broadcast of the independent İMC TV station last week on terrorism charges. Two newspapers and two television stations owned by Koza İpek Holding were placed under the management of a trustee board on charges of financing terrorism in October 2015. Those media outlets were closed down by the trustee board due to financial losses last week.

“This is not a matter of a fight between the government and the [Gülen] movement. This is a matter of existence for Turkey,” columnist Levent Gültekin said as he joined the crowd outside Zaman in a show of solidarity. “Just a few days ago, they pulled the plug on İMC TV for ‘supporting terrorism,’ which is a massive lie.”

Erdoğan declared the Gülen movement, inspired by Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, his number one enemy after a corruption investigation in December 2013 that implicated people in his inner circle. He accused alleged sympathizers of the movement within the judiciary and the police of staging a coup against his rule. The corruption charges were dropped after prosecutors of the case were replaced.

According to the court’s decision three trustees were appointed to the Feza Media Group. One of the trustees is Sezai Şengönül, who serves as an editor at a news website. The two others are lawyers are Tahsin Kaplan and Metin İlhan.

İlhan’s social media accounts showed that he is an open supporter of the AK Party and Erdoğan. His personal Twitter account’s background photo shows Erdoğan and Davutoğlu while some of his tweets even included insults at main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP).
